Spec me a CCTV System

I already have a change of password and it let the new camera in and accepted it - I did try earlier on SADP to change password but it didn't let me. - will investigate further.

Thanks

Try 123456 as the password bud - The seller I bought my imported camera from recommended the same password as you mentioned above - turned out it was only 123456.

Also might want to try 123456789. gl

To add the camera I think you can click on the camera in the nvr list and set it to "custom" rather than plug and play and enter the details manually if the password is different.
From memory it's the same way you add a camera that isn't connected to one of the NVR's own dedicated ports.

I've finally got the cable to the garage done, and I'm going to try and get the camera up tomorrow as one of my friends from down the road had his garage broken into today - fortunately he only really keeps junk in it.
Once the camera is up I'm also going to run a second network cable (via the same conduit - I forgot about it) to act as a spare, but also let me set up a normal alarm in the garage that can activate a sounder in the house.

My garage is connected to house so I put a PIR in there off house alarm- Even if you have a camera in there will you know if someone break's in or not just by camera if you are not monitoring it.

I do have the Camera password but I just can't see it online if I put IP address in browser or get it reccognised by NVR in the 8 dedicated camera slots. Grrrr

I am sure the camera is ok - it's just a case of getting it talking to NVR and at moment it's beyond my very basic knowledge of Networking.

does anyone know if you can get hikvision spares? I had some water ingree in a dome camera, and the IR board has been damaged. Seems a shame to replace the whole thing when a simple board+ cable would get it back working.

cheers

DXPP55 - You can't "add" the camera to your NVR - if you look at the list you have 8 available slots (D1 to D8) and you are trying, not knowingly, to add a ninth, rather than fit it into an available slot.
You need to edit the 8th to be the same as the IP address of the ninth wanna be.

Do not use DHCP or Upnp, in my opinion, (might be your hub) as it seems that is in play if SADP is seeing the camera as 192.168.254.8 and yet the ninth wanna be is 192.168.1.64.

BUT I must admit that I am having difficulty in seeing the information as the screenshot's are a bit rubbish :)

Not sure why, if your router is already set at 192.168.1.1 (and thus your gateway) you didn't have the NVR, for example, at 192.168.1.x and each camera to follow sequentially rather than in the 192.168.254.x range....?

Why isn't the camera plugged into the NVR out a switch and then the NVR, rather than a BT Home hub.?

I will see if I get this right

First off I got email from China giving me the passwords I could try-

I have done so many things since this afternoon I have started again.

I have just connected the camera to POE switch then switch to router - It has now come up on SADP with IP address of 192.168.254.2 - The two being the D1 on camera menu in NVR - I manually changed it earlier but even so the NVR still doesn't recognise it although it says it's active.

If I put the IP address in browser I still cannot access camera although if I turn light out next to me the IR light's light up on camera and go off when put light back on - so I think camera is working

If I then plug camera into the NVR it shows up on D1 which is 192.168.254.2

The IP address 192 168.1.64 is actually my router - I changed that earlier to
192.168.254.2 to see if NVR would recognise the camera.

I am baffled now. I need an expert.

My next port of call will be going back to dealer I went to - buy another camera for the other side of house and take this one with me - we couldn't get it up and running last time as I didn't know original password camera came with.

The camera I bough last Friday went in with no trouble - 30 seconds and it was working - plug and play

Night vision is now OK on working camera - it must have been my mucky hands on lens etc when installing it - Gave it all agood clean when I finished.

Those screen shots were photo's of screen - couldn't find out how to screen shot it- my Snap8 didn't work with SADP open for some reason.

I still feel I missed something in this tale of woe :)

If your router is at 192.168.1.64 then why is the cameras gateway set to 192.168.1.1.?
Why would you change your routers IP address to 192.168.254.2 for the NVR.?

Have you tried chatting live with any of the Ali sellers to see if they can help.? Not sure about UK dealers.
I have replaced boards and lenses in the past but that was for analogue cameras and dealing with Chinese sellers.

I'm trying to set up Hikvision DDNS. When I setup port forwarding on the Virgin router I have to enter the device ip address.
Is this the IP address of the NVR or the pc I'm working on?

The NVR's IP address is what I used with my Netgear router when I needed port forwarding.

Thanks, however I've managed to get remote viewing configured without port forwarding by using EZVIZ which is a Hikvision option.

The image quality is excellent and I can also zoom in.
Apparently I can see also view recordings but I haven't tried that yet

Another update

Had email from China telling me how to set up camera manually - well good news is I was already there and seems it's Password problem as Footman said in earlier post.

This is my problem now - been on SADP where cameras is showing and can't find a way of changing original password - From memory I don't think I had setup page where you change your password.

I have also scanned the wizard and menu and been down manual on disc - all to no avail.

Anyone know how to do it.

Sorry to be total PITA but this is my first go at networking
