Spec me a CCTV System

Couldn't see why not. I just used external grade due to the cable being outside for all six of my cameras and only inside to the loft and POE switch.

Yer everything is going to be inside a warehouse, just external grade seems to be close to double the price. I only actually need about 170m but it's more cost effective to get 305m plus I can use the excess for the office too.

Ordered the full kit from cctvkits.co.uk should be fun fitting!

Cheers

Lol always fun fitting.
A cheap but working continuity tester for the cable run is good when you are fitting the plugs.

Yer ordering one with the crimper, I'm doing some 50m+ runs so want it working first time! Luckily is relatively easy attaching to the ceiling pipes etc, no need for neatness!

Is there are limit on distance out of interest?

The limitation would be POE, about the same as that of data, iirc, which is 100m at most. Unless anyone knows different.
I suppose that is why 48v is transmitted but reduced to 12v within the camera.
I managed to do all my runs with one length of cable, bar one which used a punch down block.

China has given up on me and asked me to post it back for full refund - To be honest I wish I could have got it working - so much less hassle.

Won't send it till hear from Hikvision and password change.

My lock box has two fans which I connect around spring time due to it making the heat of the loft even worse.
I suppose it is due to location and ambient heat etc

Cheers, mine will have to be in my study so maybe I won't need one with a fan as it won't get as hot as a loft.

It should be fine where you are putting it, bolt it down though.
The fans can be noisy as well, understatement..!

Anyone have any experience with IP PTZ cameras? I'd like to put one on the corner of the house, not only for security but to keep an eye on the dogs from the study (none of the upper floor rooms have front facing windows).

Pretty much a 270 degree field of view needing to be covered. The IP variants seem to be so much more expensive than the coax alternatives for some reason.

Good news.

Thanks to Footman and his advise with Passwords I now have it working.

Bad news is the one I had working has now stopped working - Edit - done it - put it in manually and it's up and running

Not a problem now I know what it is
.
Just fired off another password rest.

So now have camera for back - just need one for side.

Has anyone noticed how camera prices have suddenly rocketed up in price

Now I have a question on NVR - I sat here and thought I will get a still picture off NVR - did all time setting's - got my picture and it said put in a memory stick when clicked Export - Well now NVR is in loft and that isn't something I want to do unless I get another 10m USB extension.

So can I connect NVR to Pc and if so how - I guess by routing it but I had trouble doing cameras so is there any other hard connection I can do it with ?

7608 NVR.

The EXIR camera is far better picture day and night than the one with black front and two IR's behind black front.

If you use the IMVS software for the PC I believe it will log into the NVR and let you screen shots and video and save them to PC/memory stick on the PC.

Uninstalled iMVS run CCleaner then installed it on backup PC - still no joy - I am missing the plug in.

Might have had a hit last night.

Was sitting here at 10.30 and saw this white transit slowly drive down road - 2 min later it did same up road - then it came back down road- Got my bright LED torch out and lit them up through window.- they stopped and drove up my drive- Driver came to door so shouted through go to window - Opened top light to talk to him and he wanted no 19 - said this side goes up to 9 and other side to 8 - What's name of people you want - (forgot he said have some kiddies play stuff to deliver) Have you got a name - can't remember - Whats name of road - this one he said - Bye bye

Dialed 101 and gave them reg number and description. Got a perfect shot of him at front door on cam.

Perhaps some one is having a kiddies party today and he was delivering the play things but 10.45pm is pushing it.
