Spec me a CCTV System

Uninstalled iMVS run CCleaner then installed it on backup PC - still no joy - I am missing the plug in.

Might have had a hit last night.

Was sitting here at 10.30 and saw this white transit slowly drive down road - 2 min later it did same up road - then it came back down road- Got my bright LED torch out and lit them up through window.- they stopped and drove up my drive- Driver came to door so shouted through go to window - Opened top light to talk to him and he wanted no 19 - said this side goes up to 9 and other side to 8 - What's name of people you want - (forgot he said have some kiddies play stuff to deliver) Have you got a name - can't remember - Whats name of road - this one he said - Bye bye

Dialed 101 and gave them reg number and description. Got a perfect shot of him at front door on cam.

Perhaps some one is having a kiddies party today and he was delivering the play things but 10.45pm is pushing it.

For the iVMS-4200 Client you do not need a plug in, IIRC. The plugin is for your browser to work when accessing the cameras via FF or IE etc. If you typed in the IP address of one of your cameras via a browser it will warn you that you do not have the right plugin and even offer to install it for you. Failing that you can download the latest plugin from Hikvision for your browser.

The iVMS-4200 Client just installs and then you add the NVR as a device and the cameras attached to it will be available.

Good result with the grabs.

When our car was broken into the two scrotes were captured on CCTV and that evidence helped to convict them.

Looking for a wide angle camera with good day and night vision to sit underneath the porch and capture people coming to the front door. Any recommendations? Will be assisted during the night by a motion sensing light.

I think you need "webcomponants" for imvs, I know I had to download them when prompted for logging into the camera via IE.

Squidger, the 2.8mm focal length turret camera with ir (EXIR Dome - 2.8mm (DS-2CD2332-I) sounds like it would probably do the job if you're not worried about anything over a few meters.
I've yet to get ours fitted as I've concentrated on the other camera and run into all sorts of issues related to the wiring (no fault of the camera, but things like unexpectedly needing to run new wiring in difficult places).

Have you been able to get a camera and NVR up and going.?

That's as far as I have got - It can see NVR but not camera's

It would help if I knew what I was doing. - Going to keep poking and hoping as eventually I will or should get there.

Looks as though the storm last night put paid to one of my cameras. I'll go up the ladder tomorrow and check but I'm not too sure if I'll find any evidence.

If you see nothing obvious with the cabling etc. You could connect a PC direct to the switch so that the PC is then connected only to the Switch and that is only connected to the camera.
Then under network settings change the ip4 address to 192.0.0.1 with subnet of 255.255.255.0 and save. Then launch the SADP tool and look for the camera on 192.0.0.64, that is what it is when it defaults.

I needed to do something like that when my NVR failed with a bad flash, IIRC.

Just remembered that I used the TFTP tool to refresh the bricked NVR and another time to recover a camera. Be very careful if you go down that route.

Then I would suggest to go as far as the SADP tool, connecting as suggested, but no further. After that talk with them.

If it was a Chinese dealer they would probably guide you through the other tool with their own customised firmware.

Good luck

Have to say i'm very impressed with the quality of the Sumvision 4 camera setup my brother has just fitted at his house.

Think it was this one - http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk...hannel-hybrid-720p-cctv-system-with-4-cameras

I'm thinking about investing however just trying to weigh up pros and cons of going IP cameras over those linked to above as it seems like cracking value for £110. I know the quality is better with IP cams but are they really worth the major price increase?

Is there like a standard IP bullet cam to go for? I only need 2 maybe 3 at a push and I already have a NAS which I could set up and use to record to.

Camera going back, no joy with SADP. This is the 2nd faulty Hikvision camera for me, it's a pity because they seem so well made.
