Spec me a kick ass system that is also ^ green ^

Arek, if you overclock your computer then you will increase the amount of power it uses. As HAz pointed out, in order to be truly green, you must undervolt and underclock every component as low as you possibly can.

Anyone know how to configure the z77 ud3h well? I am not sure of those options:

1. enable or not CPU core?
2. XHCI?
3. EHCI?
4. Seems it only has marvell ATA controller. but I hear intel one is better what to do?
5. Ahci mode on marvell contorler?

thanks

Trolling surely. There's no way you're so thick as to think buying an extra sound card to plug into the motherboard can be more environmentally friendly than using the onboard sound.

Well. Probably not that thick.

edit: looked at some of your other threads- you're a troll or a ******. If I had to guess which, I'd vote for both. As such I recommend you step away from computers and join the Church.

Sound card will not take much electricity and sound difference is worth it.

So you are saying that he got a bad chip, hence the higher voltage?

Yes.

Though 4.8 out of any chip is good.

However, for your "green" machine you wouldn't want to overclock as the power usage increases significantly. To be "green" you would want to undervolt and underclock your CPU.

I'm with Suveryor and agree this is no different to any other machine on here.

Good news folks is that last 2 components come today SSD drive & CPU.

There are only 4 cables that come with this board two are black and two are blue. Which ones are sata 3 cables please? thanks

Doesn't matter, both will work at SATA 3 speeds. The black ones look better though.

Overclocking increases CPU power consumption dramatically (linearly with CPU speed and with the square of voltage, I believe). It's just about the least green thing you can do with your hardware.

If you really want to be green then you need to buy a low-power CPU and undervolt it. You also want a passively-cooled GPU that's powered from the PCI-E slot only - or, better still, integrated graphics. Obviously you're not going to get stellar performance that way, but a 'kick ass system which is also green' doesn't really exist. Performance uses power.

Your system isn't meaningfully any greener than the average system on these forums.

points if you can guess are also there.

I can't - you'll have to tell me :p

It isn't really a 'green' system. You'd be helping the environment much more by reducing power consumption than by just purchasing gear from companies with 'green' reputations - the fossil fuels burned to power your computer will cause more harm than the initial production of the components. Your system uses more power than the average off-the-shelf PC does.

It kinda seems like you want something which you can say is 'green', but which performs identically to a system which isn't 'green'. I don't think it really works like that - you have to compromise. A Range Rover is never going to be a 'green' car, whoever manufactures it. If you want a 'green' car then you have to drive something that's less powerful and more efficient. Same with PCs.

I've pulled out old dvdrw and try to connect to my z77 board but there seems to be nowhere to plug in it in. Any ideas please old IDE connector to my z77 ud3h motherboard?

Apparently ide port of dvd drive can be connected to sata and work. Is that right? ta

You can get an IDE to SATA adapter but they can be a bit temperamental and don't always work.

Or you can get an add in card with an IDE connector.

I know you want to be "green" but for £15 you may just want to buy a SATA optical drive: Sony Optiarc AD-5280S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

That is splendid advice Surveyor. I will however get this sata optical drive as it has better reviews:
