Spec me an eye laser surgery place...

Bristol Optimax, Feb 2006.

Brought on eBay, was about £395 per eye.

Had the painfull option, but your eye is not cut. (epi-Lasek)

Best part is the cracking noise the laser makes getting upto power.

Its completly worth it, its amazing being able to see unaided.

I bought mine off ebay with optimax, but havent had chance to get it done yet.

How long did recovery take?

Getting mine done on June 5th with Optical Express in Belfast.

1200 per eye. Getting wavefront done, as apparently my pupils are too large to have the lower priced one done!

Personally can't wait, my dad had it done 3 years ago and he loved the result. My next door neighbour had it done in 1991 and he has never had any problems.

Go for it!!

If its the cheaper option Epi-Lasek, it took me about 3 days in total darkness in bed before I could start to open my eyes, but the sleeping tablets are ace :D.

After getting the bandage contacts removed (3 days) things started improving a lot after that, but it took about 8 days before I could drive again (might have been a little shorted but not sure).

Eyes were tired for the week or so after, and for the first month had halos at night but this had all gone and before surgury I suffered dry eyes but this does not happen after which is great.

Then they kept improving for a couple of months, but were pretty great after about 2 weeks, now my eyes are better then 20/20 I can see to infinity!

Anyone on here had their eyes lasered? I think it's time...

Where did you get it done and how much did it cost? Would you recommend them? What was it like? What's it like before and after?

Obviously not familiar with the serach button are we, these threads come up every few months

Had mine done just over 3 weeks ago now, went for wavefront lasik treatment with intralase at optical express, cost me £1800 for both eyes. It all depends on what treatment you decide to go for, the cheaper treatments while still effective are usually more painful and have a longer recovery time. Results may also not be as good compared to treatments such as wavefront and intralase. You can get a free consultation at optical express.

For me the actual surgery was not painful, however it was quite a disconcerting feeling. They put some anaesthetic drops in my eyes and then started with my right eye, you feel pressure on your eye and your vision completely blurs then goes dark, I assume that was the point where they reshaped the cornea. Then the laser was used, only was on for about 5-7 seconds, quite strange, your vision is still completely dark and all you can see is a sort of lightning going off inside your eyeball, its hard to describe. As I said before not really painful just uncomfortable, the actual surgery on both eyes only took a few minutes. Pretty much immediately after I could see better but everything was still slightly hazy, the surgeon described it as looking through a layer of smoke.

I was up and walking straight after and was given a load of drops to use and some crazy goggles to wear when I went to bed. Had a pair of shades to wear for the trip home as your eyes are very sensitive to light immediately after and also to a lesser extent for the coming weeks/months. Rested the next day too but I wasn’t in any pain. Day after that I was back at work, just have to keep using eye drops to stop your eyes drying out

Three weeks on and my sight is still improving, they said it can take anywhere between 1 to 2 months for yours eyes to heal fully. Last check-up I had my right eye was 20/20 or better and my left eye was only slightly lower but it is taking longer to heal than my right. They expect it to heal to the same standard as my right though. My left is still quite dry and I have to use drops and a gel to keep it lubricated, especially in the morning but this will pass in time.

Overall I couldn’t be happier, I was a bit wary to start as during the first and second weeks my eyes were still quite blurry but the past week it really has improved. Feels great not having to wear contacts anymore.

Hi, don't realy post here often but this got me interested :)

I'll be 20 soon and thinking of getting it done this summer inbetween Uni terms, just wondering if there anyone else who has got it done/getting it done at this age or younger? If theres any implications etc that i should be aware of...

I believe the best time to get it done is around 25, but I would think anyone above 18 is suitable really... you'd have to go for a personal consultation I'd imagine.
