Hi, don't realy post here often but this got me interested :)

I'll be 20 soon and thinking of getting it done this summer inbetween Uni terms, just wondering if there anyone else who has got it done/getting it done at this age or younger? If theres any implications etc that i should be aware of...

I'm 20, and have had a stable prescription for a year or so. Apparently it used to be 21 was minimum age, but they lowered it to 18 as there were no real problems at this age.

Cool, think i'll book a consultation when back home then..

Getting realy annoying haveing to wear goggle's whenever i go for a dip!

My consultation was free and totally no obligation with Optical Express. I waited a month to decide what to do after the consultation and to arrange my finances for the operation.

Off topic: I've pointed my gf in the direction of OE in Newcastle, she's going to be after some designer frames and lenses :) I'm sure you recommended OE in another thread as well so must be quite good?

Tom Materman is the man of choice!

Does your gf work in Belfast?

he's a very good surgeon by all accounts :)

my gf is based in newcastle but travels to inverness, aberdeen, glasgow, leeds, manchester, cambridge, reading...

odds are that you'll have someone from the newcastle clinic there when you go. let me know if you do :)

the new frames they have at the moment are pretty good :)

Moorfield Eye Hospital in London is the best place to get it done. Not the cheapest place, but not a massive premium to pay for the extra piece of mind.

they use the same machines, have surgeons with the same qualifications and experience, staff that are trained to the same level and they perform the same procedures as anywhere else...

;)

I won't mention any surgeons which work for 'common' companies also... ;)
