Spec me an LED Torch

I have just received this reply...

'Max/High you will get around 30-35 hours. There is only about a 5% drop from max to high.'

Yet people on candle power forums say its more like 30 minutes. I also thought the Lenser was not regulated so it slowly dims

35 hours @ 200 lumens from 4 x 900MAH AAA rechargeable batteries? I don't think so, unless he meant minutes lol. I'd believe the peeps on candle power forums, they seem to know their stuff.

Is the P7 similar to the police tech torch? If so I could probably borrow my mates some time and test it out with 4 freshly charged eneloops.

I had another reply just saying "This is based on standard AAA batteries."

Interesting (or maybe he's just telling porkies)

Quick update, 4sevens have just launched their Quark MiNi AA2.

http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=236554

Just order one as I'm very please with my existing MiNi AA but the double aa doubles the brightness and doubles the low runtime - good price as well at £25.

That looks pretty good. I think i'll go for their single AA version.

Very pleased with it so far. Not had a proper play with it yet but with a quick test in my garden it is a lot better out to 30 meters than my LD20.

Also like the modes a lot better. No more cycling through modes every time the torch is turned on.

The Quark MiNi AA2 sounds good.

My AA2 Turbo arrived and is a lot smaller than expected and programming it is very easy. I have a Surefire G2 which is still a good light but AAs are easier to get hold of and recharge and the Quark is a fair bit brighter (over 3 times brighter)

I will have a play and maybe get some pics tonight.

The normal Quark AA and Quark tacticals dont have anywhere near the throw of the turbos judging by screenshots...

Hi chaps.

Well my dads Romisen I bought him has packed up and I want to buy him another torch as he is getting on a bit, lives down a road with no lights, can't see anything (not allowed to drive due to his long sight) and enjoys a few pints down his local.

Can anyone recommend a single AAA torch?

Smaller the better but has be ne bright and hardwearing. :)

Been looking at the Fenix E01? - http://www.fenixtorch.co.uk/led_torches/fenix-e01.html

wow a torch thread at last.

Those that want lights from over sea dont for get you pay inport tax over £18 or $28

The led lenser is not regulated thats why they quote silly batt life/run times same as the old incans ie old mags/eveready put fresh batts in very bright but as minutes go by gets dimmmer and dimmer.
Good brands like Fenix, Olight, 4sevens, Nitecore, Surefire, itp, Zebralight etc use a buck or boost circuit to keep the same level of power till the battery is dead no dimming of power till flat then they usual drop to a low or moon light level or flash to warn you.

Dealextream yes cheap but for a reason.

If you want quality pay for it :)

Lumens quoated do vary some companys are a little exagerated but most are acurate some like surefire are underated. See www.light-reviews.com/reviews.html for real comparisons and http://fonarevka.ru/ for good comparison pics

Some quote bulb lumens others out the front.
OTF lumens is more like true output and will be lower than bulb lumens (for the same light) which is what the led can create not how much light comes put the front.

Some lighs are designed to light up a large wide area and are floody others are throwers designed for long distances.

Heres a pic of the torces i own minus a MG SST-50 Pocket Rocket which a friend has.

From left to right:

Thrunite Catapult V1
Fenix TK30
Olight M30
Olight M20 R5
Eagletac T20C2 Mk II
Solarforce L2P Host with a Dereelight XP-G P60 Drop in

Lights I have and have used. Some from 4sevens direct some from flashaholics and some from thephotonshop.

Fenix pd30 Q5 Great pocket light 220lumens 1hour on full power more on lower levels had for over a year now and very tough been dropped on concrete a few times fenix say good for 145meters yes you could see a fox or dog at that distance but you could not tell which so more like 75-100.
Gets a bit warm on full after 10mins hot if not held but cool on normal power.

4sevens 123mini allways on my keys small but loads of power 189lumens OTF, will get hot after 5mins on full but not on medium fairly floody light but still good range 50m+ makes 4cell even six mags look silly.

Nitecore ezcr2 for my parents keys 1Warm tint ! cool Tint 1 10/130lumens two levels allways runs cool and great battery life and very strong smaller than a AA batery good range 50m+ again can make big mags look silly.

Fenix TK30 630lumens of sheer fun only ever gets slightly warm very strong worth every penny all £120 of them.
Fenix say good for 300m realistickly 150-200m but that said was in the lake district a few weeks back and shone it from one side of wastwater to the other and lite up a white cottage on the otherside checked the distances on the map and google earth and it was 600m over half a kilometre. This light has a pertect combo of flood and throw

Nitecore EX10R2 the GF's light 145lumens very small and never gets hot infinite power levels good 50-100m range.

Zebralight H30 Q5 amazing headtorch beat my petzl xp and the gf's black diamond this litte light last for 2hours on full power with one little battery and lights up the entire campsite for a good 30m+ with a pure flood of light.

A few modded minimags for the tent and glove box.

Batteries only use Brands like duracell or energizer the apart from my mags and the little cr2's i use CR123 or 18650 rechargebles. They dont leak like AA and can handle the higher current.
I use Aw's rechargeable's as they are the best and safest but read cpf's section on batteries if you dont believe me some good horror stories there.
Shame on any computer nut who does not know were 18650's came from.
Allso a good charger is like pila is worth the money to keep your batts in good shape.

Deluxe1 if you want a pocket rocket run the TK30 on two aw cr123's to get full power in the short body but you only get 20-30mins on full power.
Allso who does it compare to the catapult for flood and throw.

I forgot also got an Itp a3eos for the mother in law what a cool little aaa light.

Edit beat me to it

The Cat is best for pure throw whilst the TK30 gives you a good combination of both throw & flood.

Might go out tonight and get some beamshots of my lights might come in handy.
