Speeding 115mph...

he was doing less than the speed limit, as there was a lorry infront anyway.

Ok so some transits can do 115mph, my works ST Transit althought its been remapped could easliy do that dispite carrying a few hundred kg's of tools in the back. However if he was indeed following a lorry in the photo or at that particular time then clearly that ends the debate/child killer blah blah. Stick a copy of the letter your dad got along with an a4 peice of paper simply saying "LOL?" and mail it back, see what happens next.

I can't believe there was actually a debate here at all, just shows how dumb people are, especially the person who sent that letter.

Are you expecting us to have any sympathy or any desire to help somebody who drove in such a pathetic, reckless and downright dangerous manner? No wonder half the country thinks speeding kills if there are people like your mate around.

115mph in anything at that location is just ridiculous let alone a Transit van with the handling capability of a towel.

Sure you should - unless it was a Connect, no Transit will ever do 115MPH.

Our old (2001) LWB 2.5DT could only just hit 80 with the tools in the back, and that was after a long run up!

115 in any Transit is inconceivable.

Take it to Millbrook and they'll scientifically prove it wasn't possible with the vehicle in question, in that scenario, and the case will be dismissed :p

The thing with the Millbrooke one is, I could easily **** a car up enough to stop it reaching 100MPH - I suspect knocking the distributor back 10 degrees or so and/or a sock in the intake would see him good.

The OP's dad should hook up with that other member who enjoyed speeding in school zones. He was a **** too.

Unless of course this turns out to be a genuine mistake in which case I retract that remark and look a bit sheepish whilst apologising profusely to the OP's dad. But not to the ****

Getting 90-100mph indicated speed out of transit takes a fair ammount of patience, I'd find it rather inconcievable that it could hit 115mph actual speed on that road, wether down hill or not :p

You said the pic shows the van following a lorry while doing this?

So by there logic the lorry was also doing approx 115mph too? :D

I think it was mroe likely that he was following Robbie G doing a top speed run in first gear.

New cars are faster doncha know.

Curious about something, does the picture have the camera data saying 115mph or is it just written 115mph in the correspondence?

Was it a rear facing camera ? (Gatso) as these take 2 pics allowing them to work out the speed by comparing both pictures.

In any case he must have been going over 40mph to activate the camera i would have thought otherwise they would be reeling tickets out to all the traffic that morning :D

115mph in a van is quite laughable though seeing as that would be around 130mph indicated on the speedo.

I've been flashed at 24mph GPS indicated in a 30 in Bounds Green and flashed about 10 times in a week for two weeks under 30mph in a 30 when they were doing roadworks approaching the blackwall tunnel due to an ill calibrated camera, in all cases it was me alone mostly, no traffic on the other side of the road or around me so they do go stupid a lot and i never got any tickets.
