Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The CGI looks much better than the trailer I watched a couple of days ago. :D

Also it’s interesting they’re using part of a storyline that Spider Man comic fans absolutely detest with a vengeance.

Not convinced that Marvel (Disney) etc give too many ***** about comic book fans. If anything they actively dislike their traditional fans and consider them "toxic". They want kids who don't know any better and people who just like the shiny CGI who lap up any crap they put out.

Utter nonsense, they wouldn't stick so many references and easter eggs in if they only wanted people who have no knowledge of the comics.

Thats not really caring about the fans though is it. Making the best film and prioritising that over everything else would pay the best lip service to fans. Putting in easter eggs is really easy and fuels a whole industry on youtube which dissects that crap. Its all part of their marketing and hype machine. It also placates some of the fan. The majority of their audience doesn't read comics and never has.

Do you seriously think they actively try to make a bad film just to **** off comic fans? Come on. The guy in charge loves comics and that is why their films are so consistently great while others aren't.

Huh, do you think anyone tries to make a bad film? Disney and Marvel have their own priorities and direction they want to take a film in. If you asked them if they wanted to make £500m and the best film ever or £600m and an average film they wouldn't even think about it.

They have criteria they have to fulfil and they have directors with their own ideas. Neither of these things necessarily lead to films that be well received by the die hard fans of a franchise. Some people think that dealing with social issues makes a good film, some people think that the fast and furious films are good. Its horses for courses but if you think that Marvel cares much about their older die hard fans I think you are kidding yourself. They want new fans and they want to maximise profit whether that is through merchandise, spins off or tie ins. Theres a reason the fan bases of things like Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who etc haven't liked the more recent films/tv series put out.

Marvel are one of the better lot for actually giving a crap to be fair but they still have a primary focus on whoever generates the most profit and thats not 30-40 year old men.

What's that?

There was a mini-series called ‘One More Day’ everyone hated because Peter Parker acted in a very un-Peter Parker way and it had an ending which threw up all sorts of consequential continuity errors and things that nobody liked. They then partially retconned all of this a few years later with the ‘One Moment In Time’ series, because being comics, you can always use retcons to do whatever you want to a story or character. The main gist of those runs was that in the Civil War comic series Spider-Man had revealed his identity to the world, bad stuff happened and between Mephisto and Doctor Strange it all gets fixed and everyone is made to forget via magic, with the cost being initially massive then with the retcon much less so.

This film looks like it’s taking some loose inspiration from the overall story of those two series (which caused some nerds to get triggered online), is dumping anything Mephisto and Aunt May related, and going with the multi-verse angle instead. In the comics Peter and MJ were married and expecting a child which factored heavily into the story, where as obviously the MCU is entirely different - the ending everyone hated that they had to retcon can’t really happen here.

Maybe Strange feels like he can do no wrong after mic dropping his way through Endgame.

He’s proven himself arrogant already and his reply to Wong was very much the same.

Still supposed to be sorcerer supreme though, and be more experienced than he was in the Doctor Strange movie.

With experience comes arrogance? Maybe that old character flaw never went away? It's difficult to be arrogant when you know you're a novice. But if you think you're a master, it's far easier.

The mainstream comic book industry hates it customers/fans so why should Disney give a hoot?

Make your mind up?

Both? They can pay easy lip service to their fans who go nuts for simple things like a background prop whilst making all the big decisions based on the people they care about the most. Marvel made good films in general which kept most people happy whatever their nerd level because they were fundamentally good. That is something you can do despite doctor who and star wars/treks lead. That doesn't mean they haven't publicly slated their traditional fans when they complain about something. You can argue all you like but they have shown clear contempt on a number of occasions for their traditional fans. I'm sure they try to keep everyone happy but when they don't, they don't take it gracefully.

So my thinking is this. Loki TV show broke the time line and it spurned off into an infinite number of timelines. Strange, carries out this spell and I will assume, this spell messed up, and opened up a gateway of sorts to allow multiple timelines to diverge into each other.
Also, "Hello, Peter" is he looking at Toby spiderman when he says it? I think its clever cutting/editing to make us think hes looking at MUC spiderman, the reason, Doc Oc, would not know who MCU peter parker/spider man is. And our MCU spiderman changed into spider man after he said it.

I agree, I think Doc Oc is looking at Toby's Spiderman and its just clever editing. I think the bit where Tom turns up and looks surprised is when he see's Toby's Spiderman confronting Doc Oc.
I also think there is more to it than the trailer suggests. It seems to setup the story in order right upto Dr Strange doing the spell then goes all wacky. I think they are trying to make the audience think one thing but its actually another.

Also does anyone know who the dark figure is right after you see the lightning from Electro near the end. I've tried to stop it but I cant make out who the dark figure is.
