I do agree that Spider-Man can get a bit repetitive if you spend too long just going round hoovering up the collectables, though I think that's an issue with nearly all sandbox games. Nearly all of Ubisoft's games have boring side quests and far too many collectables, and even a great open-world game such as HZD had some repetitive and uninteresting content.
I think it's a bit harsh to call the story predictable though. Considering Spider-Man is a long established superhero property/franchise and anyone who's read the comics or seen the films will know about the origins and identities of the villains going into the game, there's not really anything they could have done to shake things up without angering Spider-Man fanboys.
