SPL season 2012-13

Excellent result for Celtic tonight. 2-0 Win. Wanyama sent off for two yellow cards.

But great result. First away win in Europe for three years.

Rangers aren't in the SPL so surely the reference to Rangers is a non issue in this thread?

I can start an *****Official diddy SFL League season***** for diddy teams like my own if need be :)

If you see non rangers fans obsession with the best team in the world you'd understand why that rule here.

On topic I think it will be a hard fought battle for 2nd place as it is every other year for 3rd place.

Don't rule out Motherwell again this year.

Non-Rangers fans with an obsession with the best team in the world = Celtic fans. Get it right.

Celtic where grreat tonight, a fine win which was spoiled by a poor, card happy referee.

Huge result for Celtic there, and Lennon in particular. He's been dire in Europe but hopefully this is a sign of his ongoing improvement as a tactician.

Speaking of tactics, this site gives a great breakdown of Celtic games and occasionally those of their up-coming opponents.

CL qualifier
Celtic vs Helsinborgs

Europa League qualifier
Hearts vs Liverpool
Motherwell vs Levante

Weekend off from SPL as Real Madrid take on the mighty Celtic in Philladelphia. Think the match might be live on ITV3 or 4.

Edinburgh derby this weekend too...

Good draw for Celtic given the Henrik Larsson link and should be another team that they win against.

Looking forward to the Hearts game though don't think it'll be pretty. Motherwell hopefully progress but with the SPL's record not taking anything for granted.

Hearts should win it comfortably as Hibs were shocking last week.

Why was my original post deleted regarding "Sell-Out Saturday"? It was not Rangers talk.

It was directly relevant to the SPL. I can understand the following posts being deleted as the discussion was taken off topic due to doopydug, but the original post deserved to stay!

No it didn't, it just looked like a thinly disguised way to point out that Rangers still got lots of fans to their game. If you want to discuss it any further then feel free to send me an email but this thread is not going to get taken off topic in this way.

It was pointing out the statistics involved in "Sell-Out Saturday", which was a campaign involving SPL clubs, no? Is this not an SPL thread?

There was nothing thinly disguised about it - I specifically used the attendance at Ibrox last midweek to put a bit of perspective on the figures. It was not pointing out that Rangers still got lots of fans to their game. It was showing the opposite, that despite a campaign in place to try and increase attendances throughout the SPL, with the exception of Aberdeen (although some way short of a sell-out, they did get ~4,000 more than they did for the 1st home game last season), it was a complete flop. Why is that not worthy of highlighting and discussing?

Don't worry five star I got a ban for a week for an of topic post yet the post before about attendance fiddling that I replied to was still there.

Attendances at the games are not the deciding factor in success of football it's all about TV money and sponsorship. Sure a few more fans buying season tickets helps but it's peanuts compared to TV cash generated. From what I've read most (if not all) SPL clubs have sold more season tickets than last year which is great for the game.

I head Aberdeen have more season tickets sold but a lot if these are kids tickets which were free when an adult bought their ticket.
