Splinter Cell HD Trilogy

I assumed this was a BD release too??! I assume like Steam its the publishers that determine PSN pricing, so more likely Ubisoft rather than Sony you should focus your vitriol to?

Absolutely no chance in hell i'm paying £8. I'm too used to Steam pricing, the trilogy was £5 on Steam, or something like £1.99 a game. Sony can go **** them selves with this pricing, was really looking forward to this too.

For about the 1000th time Sony do not set the price for third party games on PSN, blame ubisoft if you want to rant about the price. The disk version is still coming out in September but i reckon it will be about 25-30, much like the rest of them, the games are cheaper with PSN+ though. The steam games would be the same game to an HD update, so i dont think you could compare steam pricing to this in anycase.

I can only find Chaos Theory on the PS store, am I being blind? I've looked under 'new this week', under S and T in PS3 games but can still only see CT?

Just bought Pandora tomorrow and Chaos Theory and I thought the price was extremely fair, in fact I was shocked that they were priced the same as it will be at retail in September when it gets pressed to blu-ray.
So 7.99 per game is great when you consider how early we get them compared to stores.
I'm hoping this kind of pricing becomes the norm for Sony EU.

The steam trilogy doesn't have the HD makeover. The PS3 HD versions have been made porting (and improving) the PC versions.
Steam are great but they pretty much sell really old games at a low price. I would eat my hat if they didn't price a new HD makeover of this trilogy at the same price (or higher) than PSN have priced it.

They really do look nice.

I was shocked at the low price, too. There is more content in Splinter Cell than say a new release like 'From Dust' which cost £10. And if you're PS+ then it's even cheaper - £6 or so.

The BD release is something like 23rd September.

Downloading the original. Rather do it this way rather than spend £25 on the three as i'm pretty sure Deus Ex is going to get in the way once that's out. It will probably take until the 23 September to download at the rate it's going though :(

I'll be giving this a miss until it's retail and cheaper than £8 a game. Got plenty of other games to be cracking on with anyway.

To be honest releasing it first as a download is taking the p***. Surely a boxed retail copy is the priority over an annoymous file you don't actually own and that can become unavaliable at any time without warning? Its a complete farse. Ubisoft/Sony (whichever of the two is responsible for this facade) should be ashamed.

Putting my anger aside for the moment I did try to find some videos or even some screenshots from today showing the difference between the original Xbox version and this new Hd version, but all I could find were a couple of Ps3 gameplay videos recorded today and the official screenshots (which I don't trust as they look nothing like the gameplay footage of the Ps3 version and have obviously been touched up). The earlier screenshots made the game look much better than it actually appeared to be on the videos I saw today and rather predictably it looks as though the only thing that has been improved is the resolution (the textures and lighting look exactly the same as the xbox version) which is why I'm curious to see the two side by side. I already have all the Splinter Cell games so not sure whether to bother now if the only difference is resolution as the 360 upscales the original xbox versions anyway (although the first Splinter Cell game is 4:3 only which is annoying - you used to be able to force it to widescreen by dropping to 480p but after the most recent update this no longer works and all you get is a scrambled image at 480p and have to play it at 720p, 1080i or 1080p to see it properly).

Yeah, I saw that video mate and a few others. What I'm after is a side by side comparison to see if it is indeed exactly the same or if I'm thinking the Xbox version looks slightly better than it actually is.

Have to say, looking at that above video, it looks terrible!

Great games none the less but expected more in the way of quality for a PS3 port.

Cheers, Paul.
