@ShivP majority use R32 refrigerant know, only the older models use R410a so be worth checking your getting a newer revision unit.

@200sols That is in theory for pre-charged piped runs but if the unit needs the pipe work made then you will need a flaring tool kit, OFN to pressure test and Vac pump to remove moisture and non condensibles.
Oh right, thanks. I read somewhere the MZS EF uses R22 or something?

Mine are the MSZ-EF and it says r32 on them. I think they look quite smart.
OK great, thanks. I must have been reading some incorrect info then

Have you got decent images of your units? Be nice to see outside the marketing material

Actually all my previous pics look a bit blurry and you can't really see it that clearly. I have taken this tonight so not the best lighting but clearer than the rest. My friend has a black version of the same unit and it really stands out on his wall which make it more of a feature. The white ones definitely blend in a little more to my color of walls anyway.

@ShivP I have the MSZ-LN in the plain white. Both the Zens that @fobose posted and my ones are the more premium models they do.

They do a fancy black version of it though that could look good in your case.

Nice - they both look good. I think may as well go for the MSZ-LN for the minimal cost increase.

@fobose I have confirmed some electrical stuff we were speaking about before.

Starting on the 31st of this month, the current plan is below.

Ethernet
1 x CAT6 ethernet run from understairs cupboard (router location) to Lounge.
1 x CAT6 ethernet run from understairs cupboard (router location) to loft space near hatch.
2 x CAT6 ethernet runs from loft hatch to TV wall in main bedroom.
2 x CAT6 ethernet runs from loft hatch to study.

Power
Double socket near loft hatch spurred from hallway socket.
Double socket to TV wall in main bedroom.

Trunking
Trunking in lounge to go around the skirting to hide speaker cables. Needs quite a lot of trunking probably about 7-8M worth.

I will supply my own 5-8 port unmanaged switch to the loft central distribution point.

Total cost: £520 ex VAT.

Not the cheapest maybe but the guy doing the work seems good from conversations we've had so far. And ultimately this will give me what I want. I could save a bit and do the trunking myself but there's a couple of corners in there that need cutting, and if I can just get it all done at once that will be best I think.

Was looking at wall mounting both TV's but I don't think the downstairs one needs it (and I will still need the TV cabinet). The upstairs one possibly could, but it sits pretty perfectly on the chest of drawers it's on width wise, and I can just sit it almost back at the wall anyway.

Hey @HungryHippos. That sounds cool, hopefully he does a nice neat job for you. I think I remember you saying the runs from the understairs cupboard would be external (mostly hidden out the way behind shrubbery/downpipe). I don't think the price is too bad considering the amount you are getting done and the fact you don't have any of the tools or equipment to do it yourself.

A few questions if you don't mind:

Do you know how long it will take to complete?
Will the cat6 runs terminate in to face plates?
Will he be checking the cat6 sockets are wired correctly (i,e testing them)?
Will you receive any certificates for the power socket installs? I am not sure if any are required, but when my old kitchen had 2x double sockets installed, I received a minor works certificate for it.

Do you know how long it will take to complete? He said estimates a day, possibly bleeding a little into a 2nd day.
Will the cat6 runs terminate in to face plates? Yes
Will he be checking the cat6 sockets are wired correctly (i,e testing them)? I assume so but not checked tbh!
Will you receive any certificates for the power socket installs? I am not sure if any are required, but when my old kitchen had 2x double sockets installed, I received a minor works certificate for it. Probably but not come up in questions or general info. Am not too worried though seen a few bodges in the house already for things so it's just another thing on the pile! :D

Answers above in bold for you matey :)

Cool :D I would buy yourself a cheap socket tester so you can check everything is wired correctly yourself for peace of mind. You will just need a long network cable and a short one so you can join both ends to the tester (i.e from the lounge socket to the understairs cupboard socket, under stairs cupboard to the loft area etc).

What are peoples opinions on the new generation stuff which comes with R290 so with a ODP of 0 and therefore no requirement for an F-Gas person to commission it?

Are these systems somehow inferior?

I ask as i am currently building and i need a heating/cooling system. It would save me paying an installer to commission a system...
