3.5kw there ^ would work. Use swing mode and you can direct the blades left to right. Just remember before bed leave doors open.

You could even use a free standing fan on the landing to help direct air flow.

I think it’s a terrible idea personally but probably depends on your use. We are in a 3 bed semi and have it per room and being able to control each room with individual temperatures is handy. Having it on the landing means you get to set 1 temperature, but because your bedrooms are quite far from the unit it means you will have massive differentials of temperature across the whole upstairs, basically you have no control.

As well if you only wanted to heat/cool one room well you can’t now. As well you’d need to leave all bedroom doors open to get the benefit.

Relatively cold air descends. You'll lose most of it down the stairs. Looking at floor plan I think it is a terrible idea.

How reliable are pumps? Noise?

I’ve read some right horror stories. Noisy, fail, etc. If you are going to go for a pump go for one in the loft. I’m hoping to have a unit on the landing which backs on to bathroom. I could use a pump via the loft but I will be asking them to drill through, conduit down in the corner then into sink waste via hepo valve.

I’ve got two installers coming next week for a quote. Looking at Daikin Preferra 3.5 or 4.2. To get one in my main bedroom is a nightmare so I’m going down the landing route.

The Toshiba units actually look quite decent compared to the usual white ones.

When are they coming?

This is my landing and looking at having it positioned as below. A guy came today and completely dismissed my idea. You can’t see from the floor plan but the main bedroom is a nightmare. Only place he could think of is behind the door opposite the en-suite but due to the depth of the unit the door won’t be able to fully open. Non starter.

I have a guy coming on Thursday if he thinks it’s not going to work I’m going to completely can the project. I’ve been using AI to help me size the unit and it thinks 3.5kw is fine on the landing.
