** Spoilers ** Carling Cup Quarter-Finals [Nov 30th-1st Dec]

Ok, lots of smaller teams have a couple very decent players each, but the old top four would chuck out their rubbish players and go steal all the good players, thats pretty much what made them the top 4 to start with. Transfer fee's for those types of players aren't expensive, and wages long term far outweigh the transfer fee's, and we're wasting those wages on rubbish players, so its not saving any money. I do think a new manager at Arsenal and Utd would be more critical of the players he had, and be FAR more willing to sell the rubbish players than Fergie/Wenger is.

I have to agree with this, there is no way on this planet that the ferguson of 10-15 years ago would tolerate the kind of performances that the players have been putting in.
I also believe as you say, if he was coming into the club fresh, a great deal of the current squad would be looking for new clubs.
I also believe 100% that given either todays squad, or the united squad of 99 old fergie would muller the fergie of today 10 times out of 10.
That doesnt mean he isnt good enough today, it simply means he is a long way from being as good as he was.

Well I think it would be hard to bring in top notch quality players to warm the bench. A lot of them would simply kick up a fuss if they weren't playing week in, week out.

I firmly believe Chelsea have the strongest squad. Sure, they have lemons like all teams do, but they have the least, and can at least field a midfield that can be relied on to play semi-well.
I think we have the strongest squad tbh, There are a few lemons eg Bridge,RSC but the rest are decent to top quality players many of which would get in any non top 4 team straight away. We can field many midfield combinations all of which can be relied on :p

Any non top 4 team? So you are saying Blackpool/Wolves might want some of your bench? What?

I wouldn't call your midfield (or any other part of the team) anything close to reliable just yet.

What? I am saying that players such as Lescott,Jo,Richards would get into teams eg Villa. Compared with chelsea players such as Ferriera wouldnt.
I would...so Tevez isnt reliable up front? Hart in goal isnt reliable?
EDIT:Where did you get that little green android robot from in your sig?

No you dont:p...not by a long shot...your team is made up of self absorbed egotistical idiots who you spent far too much money on...the only decent signing id say you made recently is Silva but even hes gone off the boil.

You do have the strongest squad in terms of money spent and the greediness of your players ie Tevez and Adebayor to name but a few who are just looking at the £ signs;).

Why dont we? who does then?
Well money is irrelevant but i agree we did pay over the odds for a few players but the rest have been good buys tbh.
Yeh ok then. Were going through a similar phase that Chelsea did i reckon where there is some greedy players eg Shevchenko at Chelsea and Adebayor at City. But like chelsea you come through it by selling off these players like we will and you end up with a good solid team with good backup players like Chelsea had in J Cole and like they have now with someone like Sturridge.

I'd put Toure in being there for the money. Tevez at leasts gives his all and is on a different level to his colleagues at times.

Tevez is fairly reliable, Hart should be but thats why I said 'just yet'.

You've only named a few players that could walk into other teams, and they could be considered questionable.

I'm not telling you! :p

Toure and Adebayor are the only 2 imo. Bridge,Lescott and Santa dont deserve what they get paid but we are going to start getting rid of them (Santa,Bridge,Ade) this transfer window hopefully.

I think we can call our defence reliable. Second most 'reliable' in the league so far at least.

I think if you look at our 25 man squad (plus the couple of under 21 additions like Balotelli) http://www.mancityissues.com/2010/09/mcfcs-25-man-squad-named-mj-and-rsc-in.html there are more than a few players any EPL team would love to have as starters, let alone back ups.

I completely disagree that our whole team is made up of egotistical idiots too. The majority of that list are far from it, we just happen to have a couple of prize plonkers that detract attention and tarnish the rest.

I agree.
Anyways i think we should move this to banter thread or something as this isnt talking about the CC.

Barry is not terrible, He is not in his best form ever but he is a good player and has much like Zaba not being recognized for the work he has been doing.

He does very little aside from give the ball away time and time again. He rarely plays well.

Unless he's a beast in every game that I miss, which I highly doubt.

To be fair he was really quite poor after we played Liverpool and for quite a while (it certainly felt like). Though he seems to be charging back into the unsung hero role of late. There were some games where his first touch was just diabolical, it was frustrating to watch. Like I say though, he seems to want to stay and fight, and his past few performances have been much more promising.

lol Gareth Barry is one of the worst midfield players I have ever, ever seen.

He should be put down like a knackered race horse.

God only knows how he scraped into the England squad.

Yes of course he is, Try watching City v Chelsea, City v Liverpool and then see if you still hold the same opinion.

I don't think he's the worst midfielder I've seen :p

He's just over rated, massively over rated. He's not England quality and is vert fortunate to still be getting near the Manchester City first 11.
