see, thats the rooney problem. he makes great passes to other players that no one can make back to him.
the england central midfield is that reluctant to come back and get the ball off the defence so rooney has to come back and do a scholesy just to get a touch of the ball and actually distribute it to the other end of the pitch with any degree of accuracy.
i wonder if rooney could become the worlds best central midfielder in a scholes type manner instead of playing up front

oh yea ill have to take daweson out of my fantasy team, sorry 'Edknapp but im going to replace with Ekotto next so no doubt he will get gladular fever or soemthing the instant i put him in...

Nobody gets the ball back to him because he's usually behind them.
Saying that, Rooney didn't do too badly in the second half.

What was the France lineup? Aren't the majority of them suspended?
Not that many.
Most of them were back for the qualifier. Ribéry, Evra and Anelka were missing.

honestly would make sense for him to play CM, he'd get a lot more of the ball and not sacrifice a spot upfront with his wandering.
He'd make a great Scholes successor, and hopefully get more goals like the Newcastle one

Why would you shift a 20-goal-a-season striker into midfield? Doesn't make any sense.

Love if Adam Johnson had a start - I do think with him and Milner as 'wrong-footed' wingers adds another feather to Englands bow. Though I guess while Walcott appears to be in form he will be the natural choice...

His scoring record wasn't anywhere even close to Rooney's though.
