**SPOILERS** Football 26th Feb - 2nd Mar 2011

I mentioned the Scholes one at the time, he has been a little unimpressive lately.

Rooney occasionally loses the ball upfield, but that's pretty much unavoidable, and is part of the game.

Im not getting at him as I dont think it was avoidable but a few times recently its been in our half of the field, but some just want to nag on and on about Carrick when others do it just as much yet dont mention it (and Carrick had some sublime offensive passes last night also , again not mentioned)

Why do people even bother getting into an argument with Nick, he can't even buy clothes that fit him ffs, let alone tell us all how a PL midfielder should be doing.

Lets see how much the ones from last night get mentioned in the next few days.......

Whats the betting NOTHING gets mentioned

Well, obviously, the Luiz one was hardly the same as Rooney's

Even still, I listened to 10 minutes of MongSport earlier and all they were on about Luiz

and so did Scholes, so did Rooney occasionally - but I dont see you blaming them do you

Rooney had quite a poor game despite scoring. but he did score and he did the same vs city...

Scholes actually did okay yesterday.

Carrick was terrible. This is his worst season ever. You dont go for 1344 premiership minutes with no goals, no assists - and average to awful performances - and still contend that he is good. You simply cant defend him, and if you try you will look silly, because EVERYONE man utd fans and especially other teams fans KNOW just how bad he is.

G|mp Why do people even bother getting into an argument with Nick, he can't even buy clothes that fit him ffs, let alone tell us all how a PL midfielder should be doing.

Ah yes, GIMP clearly knows the score. Perhaps Carrick should be up for Ballon' Dor? He is in great form afterall. er..?

Even anderson the much hated figure is better than carrick, and is playing better than him. shame he is injured but still.

Can anyone defend J Oshea's performance? Fletcher? Simply not good enough in my eyes for the leading club in the country. Who would JOSHEA replace in the top 4 at rb or lb? not many thats for sure.

I thought Fletcher played very well first half. But like everyone else not so good second half. He was asked to play right wing though which just isn't his position.

Van Der Vaart was sold at that price because the selling club wanted rid of his contract given their existing squad; don't really see how it impacts on the expected valuation of good players.
Well then don't use Carroll as a fair assesment of why Nani is worth £40m, when it's common knowledge that Newcastle essentially had Liverpool over a barrel for that transfer, knowing that they deseprately needed a replacement for Torres, and that the fact it was £15m less than they got for the latter was more important to 'Pool than the actual price.

Assuming Real wanted to buy Nani
This would be the big assumption that is the point of my doubts in the first place, yes? Just saying it repeatedly, doesn't make it true, you know.

Yes I would laugh, but that's only because 1) I've seen Nani and Bendtner play for multiple games each and 2) he's not a starter for Arsenal, Nani is. I'm wondering what games you catch of the Jackson look-a-like if you think these figures are fantasy.
So basically, you're allowed to use stats (and extremes of the transfer market) when it backs up your points, but when I use similar ones to disagree with you, that's wrong?

I've seen plenty of Manchester United games this season, thanks. Nani's a decent player, no doubt, but I've honestly yet to see him doing anything particularly world-beating, and thus I would find it very surprising to see a club like Real in for him.

I still dont think the aforementioned was headline news

Im with you on that, sometimes Nani can be distinctly average (even invisible) in some big games

If the club wasnt in so much debt I really doubt Nani would have been given this long to show what he might be worth.

Yes Ronny was given a lot of time to develope, but he has also always looked a step or two above Nani as well so not really that comparable.

Giving credit where its due, Nani has done well with assists this season so far (hopefully adding a few more before the end of the season) and while he has scored some well-needed goals - Im not sure its that amazing either

Maybe over the next 12 months he could step up another gear and become more consistant in his shooting/accuracy

Bank is one of our standout highlight performers. What we need is for the rest of the midfield to get close to his level of performance before we could talk about getting rid of nani. Except vds, codicil, eves I would say nani has been our best player this year.

And he can get better.

Can the same be said for carrick, Fletcher, oshea, Gibson I don't think so.
Park is average but has a de.cent run now and again.

I've calmed too and I still think Atkinson the incompetent lady area threw that match well and proper. We were much the better team and had he done his job properly, would have been well out of sight before he allowed Chelsea right back into it.

oh please. the referee did what he thought was right just like when rooney elbowed mccarthy. realise that this is the way football is and not everything goes your way. i'm not saying wigan would have won but rooney wouldn't have been playing for you last night. double standards.

Pretty surprised that Man Utd fans are so angry at the ref, they have learnt well from Ferguson! Lose = blame ref.

I thought he did ok considering the pace of the game, besides disallowing Chelsea's goal which was perfectly legit, not booking Rooney for diving, and sending off Luiz probs for challenges 1/50th as bad as Rooney's at the weekend. The rest was ok though.

Also, 'we were the much better team' and 'the ref let Chelsea back in it'

Please highlight where I said Rooney did nothing wrong? I was as damning of him as others were.

I appreciate not everything goes your way but Chelsea were absolutely on the ropes - I mean the equaliser was scored by a player who shouldn't have been on the pitch! It doesn't get much worse than the display last night, it's probably the worst officiating i've seen in the history of the premiership.

And what do you expect us to do? Not play Rooney and leave him out? Yes, because if the shoe was on the other foot, you'd leave your best player out as well if he was available.

To all those screaming that it was double standards, two wrongs do NOT make a right. Remember that.

Not giving Utd a penalty in the opening minutes, and missing quite a few yellow card offences is not 'ok' imo. Also the challenge on Hernandez by David Luiz was ridiculous.
