***SPOILERS*** Football 30 Apr - 2 May 2010/2011

Why?

A great deal of your squad is used to finishing in the Champions League spots. Not doubting that Kenny's come in and done a great job, but that's largely all he had to do - motivate the players after Hodgeson's tenure. The talent that did well in previous years for the most part was already there.

I had doubts as to whether Spurs could keep up their efforts of last season, and it appears they're faltering slightly at the end.

I think I predicted you'd have a top 6 finish, and as said above most people who thought you would finish mid table or lower were those overly loud and pessimistic Liverpool fans.

Edit - or hopeful United fans. ;)

Firstly, my post was in relation to where we were going under Hodgson not what the squad was capable of. I agree that the squad was capable of finishing where we are and had Dalglish got the job in the summer rather than Hodgson, we could have realistically challenged for a top 4 spot.

However, even if you look at what the squad was capable of and we agreed that it was capable of competing with Spurs etc; since Dalglish has taken over we've more than competed, we've closed a 11 point gap in 14 games.

As for your last point; Liverpool fans were adamant that our squad was far more capable than what we were achieving pre-Dalglish, it was others both in the press and on here that were coming out with nonsense about the squad only being capable of a midtable finish.

In the end though, although Liverpool were in the bottom half at the beginning, there was only a few points in it. The table has been so close all season that a couple of wins was always going to put them higher up.
11 points behind Spurs and 17 points behind City. Getting to 6th should have been fairly easily achieved but considering the gulf in class there was meant to be between us and Spurs (and City), to close the gap on them is an excellent effort.

Nice sarky remark. We're talking with regards to what the sides deserved, not what they actually got. If you cared to read my post you would have seen I said tottenham 'should' have walked away with AT LEAST a point. That's not to say your performance merited it, much like Bale's PFA award.

Not exactly like Chelsea deserved the penalty either - and seeing as the only way you won the game was having 13 + men on the field, the home team didnt even deserve one point let alone three

Personally think Liverpool will now get 5th , they have more momentum at the moment, their squad was always better than majority of hte teams they were surrounded by earlier in the season, so nott that surprising with two high priced top notch players bought in to "replace" a woefully under-performing Torres that they would climb dramatically since

Goal line would have sorted the dodgy gaol out, but I think the prem should have a official gaol side, I think they would have come to the right ruling there.

Off to Anfield in about an hour. Less than impressed with the kick off time, Geordies must be even more annoyed- bet a lot of them travelled up last night.

Dilemma is now- what do Liverpool really want? Europa league and Thursday nights against Doctor Robotnik FC while your weekend games get shunted to Sunday/Monday or stuff it and have a year just focussed on the league?

Its catch 22 imo cause if we have Europe we can also go for the bigger players even if it is only Europa league, Good as its another competition that we may win or may not.

Downside is the fact their played on a Thursdays and some players clearly get tired by it for the weekend games and with our current teams size thats not a good thing but if we sign couple extra players in summer and use each player wisely it shouldnt be an issue especialy since the youngsters coming up are doing well now.

gomes is a real problem for us, he's made a lot of errors but he's made more good saves, don't know what his problem is though. all the focus seems to be on him though, our strikers aren't doing a good enough job either. sandro looked good again though which was a positive.
ridiculous decisions have now pretty much eliminated our chance of 4th.

5-1 forest...

It's a good job every game is different, because on yesterday alone, you'd be wanting us in the first round of the playoffs.

Scunny were a beaten team from the off, break of the ball for our first goal, another day forest could have drew a blank with a static frontline and a defence constantly playing catch up.

Any forest fan not at the game, they gave rob earnshaw a standing ovation, the only thing of any note he did all game was to get sent off at the end.

Hope,(for the reds fans) switches gunter back to the other flank, koncheski is leaving.... maloney gets back in on the other side... ando and cohen play the flanks... moose/kenna with raddy and lewis, up top is anyones guess.... take a punt on finley? boyd gets a little better each time he starts, bob's suspended (great) tudgay's lost his charm, tyson can't kick a ball... a mess.

In Billy i/we trust though... Rant over:)

As a chelsea fan I have to say we were definitely lucky to get those decisions. Harsh on spurs. But you should definitely get rid of gomes - 99% of keepers would have just held the shot and there would have been no decision for the linesman to make.

Pressure on man u now. :)

Redknapp is going to go ****ing mental after this!

that is the problem. he wont go mental because his head is in the England job.

Since January he has been spinning a line about "4th being very hard, ****ty 150m, blah blah blah, liverpool carroll suarez"

He wants a solid season to back up his credentials for England manager.

His attitude has embedded itself into the players who are convinced they are not worthy of fourth. Harry will take a nice 5th/6th and take the England job as soon as it is offered.

We should fire the ****er before he gets the chance and bring in Hiddink on a HUGE contract. Can Hiddinck REALLY be enjoying Turkish national football?
