***Spoilers*** Silent Hill Movie ***Spoilers***

Who is that freaky girl that looks identical to the womans daughter?

Is she the grim reaper or something?

I thought she was supposed to be a demon, possibly even the devil hence the 'I have many names but right now I am so and so' comment. Reminded me of another film I saw when almost the exact same line was spoken by the devil (Might have been the devils advocate?).

As for the creatures it was mentioned that the parallel dimension thing was being controlled by the girl in the hospital bed who was obviously in a lot of pain as well as full of hate, so she dreamed them into being to attack the villagers when they left the church.

I thought they were stuck in a parallel dimension at the end rather than dead, because if they had died then surely the police guys would have found some of the bodies? I wondered if perhaps they were actually in some form of pergatory for their sins, because that silent hill was caught between the real world and hell that appears beneath it?

I got the impression that the demon girl was feeding off the hate of the coma girl, and once she had had her revenge she needed to find someone else to 'latch' on to as it were so kept the mother and child there.

It was also mentioned by the demon girl that sharon was the good part of alyssa that she sent out in the world to be safe. Maybe the demon thing decided that to keep sharon happy then she needed to keep sharon alone with the only person who had shown her true love, and thats why they are stuck in the parallel dimension away from the real world and all its negative influence.

But like I said I could be wrong, and the movie is open to interpretation.

Just got back from this with Zefan. Thought it bloody pwnt.

Its definetely not as scary/disturbing as the games, purely because hollywood had their way with it. Sean Bean's character didnt need to be in it at all, and without him there wwould of been less relief fromf "oh noes hell is coming to own me". His character was not originally in it, but written in because Hollywood had to make it into a bit of a crappy action film otherwise theyd get bored.

OTHER than that, loved it. LOVED seeing pyramid head on the big screen looked fabulous. All the creatures were brilliantly done and the whole feel of the film was excellent. Only hope that having the demon semi escape from silent hill at the end was a start up for a sequel, where sean bean's character might actually be of use, much like the 2nd game.

Loved it, although it could have been better if left untampered!

i saw it tonight too thought it was a bit hit and miss imho. some parts where good some parts where patchy.

Saw this last night. Spend the last 2 thirds of it waiting for it to finish. The number of people checking their phones for the time etc was amazing. no one seemed to be paying attention by the end. My girlfriend played the games (she wanted to see it, not me) and I can't repeat what she thought about it !

Think it's going to be one of those you either love or hate tbh.

What happened to the reviews everyone promised? :(

Saw this Wednesday - good film tbh and left very open for a sequel :)

However I have never played the games so some parts of the plot may have been lost on me. I am sorely tempted to get the games however :)

Just seen this...

Really enjoyed it even tho I hadnt played any of the games. Makes me want to now :)

One question, does anyone know the name of the artist / track of the ending credits?

Cheers.

It's called "You're Not Here" from Silent Hill 3. :) I'm not sure of the band though.

Edit: Sung by [size=-1] Melissa Williamson :)

That's a surprisingly good trailer actually, it really looks quite good. Might have to go see this at the cinema, it won't have the same impact on DVD.

Oh yes it will, well it will at my house :p

Just got back from seeing this.

I played the original many years ago and LOVED it.

I had no idea there were 4(?) games.

I got confused by the ending but reading some posts in here made it all make sense.

I'm also very suprised it was only a 15, very graphic and the burning scenes were quite bleah!

Sean Bean should have been the main character (as he's male) like in SH1, but I suppose a female character is easier to feel sympathy for.

I'd give it 7/10.

I understand why the main character wasn't a man, because you can't have a man running around screaming at everything that jumps out. The cop should have had longer hair, she looked like a dyke once her helmet was off.

What a terrible thing to have in a film  :p

Nothing terrible at all ;), in the Silent Hill game her hair was medium length, nothing wrong with dykes either (is this a bad word to use). :) I just don't see the attraction with women and short hair. The film would have been even more enjoyable if she had lush long blonde hair flowing around her face being chased by the devils creatures.... all imho of course. :p

Ahh fair enough, thought you just didn't like the idea of people looking like lesbians in films for some reason :)

Just for reference. :)

Its probably not the greatest choice, my friends who are lesbians use it but I don't think its a word they particularly like to have used when people refer to them (yes thats probably a bit hipocritical). Its probaly not as comfortable to them as 'gay' or 'lesbian'.

For people wondering who the pyramid head is I can explain:

He is possibly one of the victims of Walter Sullivan (the main "evil one" in the 4th game). His real name was Jimmy Stone and was a priest of the order that controls the town. He used to wear a triangular shaped hood which could explain the pyramid shape. Apparently, he is seen "raping" his victims as he is a manifestation of James' guilt over his wife (the 4th game explains this more).

Saw the film on wednesday. What i liked about it was that it wasnt trying to make you jump every minute like some films do, instead it was just really freaky. and pyramid head was cool!

i didnt mind that the cop had short hair, she still looked pretty hot.
