yeah i saw it last week pretty good film.. I thought sean bean's character was useless... And why did they decide to use a woman instead of the man? Maybe sean bean *** of been the lead? (i know its not meant to be like the game!)

And i haven't seen many films recently but did anyone think it was quite gory for a 15? I'm 20

just worrying about the kids!

Saw this last night, having never played any of the games properly at all, and I thought as a film (not as a film-based-on-a-game), it was really good. I've heard a lot of people compare this and that from the film to the game (i.e. differences), but does that really matter? I think it shouldn't have to be judged by what it draws from the game. Call me a wuss, but I think it should have merited an 18 certificate rather than a 15!! (Crucifixion (kinda), lots of blood, skinning, torture, burning, skin peeling off...) I thought the acting by the lead woman (Radha Mitchell) was really good, the town was beautifully shot, and the general creepyness maintained throughout, especially when 'the darkness' came. It didn't turn out to be a no-brainer creepy/horror flick like Hostel for example (which was crap). Genuinely one of the best films of it's genre I've seen in ages. The addition of dark haired little girls with creepy stares is always a winner.

Apparently his character was written in later when the studio complained there were no male roles in it. If that's true it could explain why his character doesn't really do much.

Women convey terror a lot better than men, plus they can get away with screaming every few seconds. It would have turned into an action film if a man was in the main role.

Maybe i'm completely wrong on this one, but my interpretation of the film is this. All of the main characters (cant remember their names) died during the crash (i.e. the police officer, mother and daughter.) Thats why Sean Bean could be seen standing only feet away but not see her. Off topic for a bit Sean Beans American accent has to be the worst i've ever heard.
Anyway, they all die and they are stuck in a first circle of hell as it were, they cannot escape.

If we view hell as most other books do (i.e The Divine Comedy - Dante's Inferno etc) Then their souls still have a body, which means they can bleed and they can die.

When the mother makes a deal with the devil, shes obviously not going to get into heaven, so the best they can expect is purgatory. (Obviously that doesn't explain why the little girl gets punished as well)

Maybe..... but the cops would have found the vehicles and bodies if they'd crashed and died.

True, but they did say in the film that when the towns people all died most of their bodies were never found. So i reckon that the cop's, mother's and daughters body was dragged off some where. Who can say?

Went to see this a while ago. It's an awesome movie, really enjoyed it

IMO I don't think she's in hell, just in the dream world Alyssa creates from the pain everyone had caused her.

It really is left hanging in the air, so I expect a sequel is on the cards. So Sean Bean goes back to Silent Hill to find them and encounters more evil of course.

The town,monsters and atmosphere were amazing i saw a clip of the director and he said he wanted to be true to the setting,its just a pity same attention hadn`t been paid to script.Sean bean character ended up useless,i expected him to sneak into sh after learning something armed to the teeth.The main actress was really good tho never seen her before.
I can stand a lot of gore but the barbed wire stuff at the end was really rough ugh.I do hope they make another one tho.
