Jesus wept, this thread is just pathetic now.
But at least Crysis isn't the cool-to-hate game anymore.

How is it pathetic? , different people are giving their views of the game... Most don't like it but thats the way it goes sometimes![]()
Used the wrong word , the post still stands though![]()
I am truely glad for anyone who enjoys this game, alas, I do not. As I posted earlier, I just feel this game to be a total let down, boring/repetitive/linear and rather goalless. I'm just trying to finish the Civ stage to see if the space has any hope of reviving the game for me, but as that about 4/5 through the game, I don't see this last stage will make the game suddenly feel like fun for me. Especially as you cannot go online and visit other people's planets for social or war reasons, apart from sharing what your creature looks like, whooope dooo!
Like someone has stated, it is indeed like marmite, you either hate it or love it. I think anyone who enjoyed SIMS(and to a lesser extend DOGZ & CATZ), will probably endup enjoying this game a lot. But for people who were hoping a more openended game like CIV or more ability to explore the universe with other people online and visit their planet for social or warlike interaction, you will be soarly disappointed.
There is a lot of 'Dry Cracker Syndrome' with people and this game though. ie, you have been starving for a while and someone hands you a dry cracker, you think it the best meal you ever had, but its still just a dry cracker. I'm sure that most people who love the initial look and feel of this game will pretty soon get bored and it will be left to gather dust.
The 2 releases after this dry summer, Space Siege and Spore, have both been major letdowns for me, lets hope for something, anything to come along before Xmas and revive my faith in games.
But for now, I say no thank you, I will not pay £££ for a dry cracker, my bookcase is already full of them, gathering dust.
This game sucks, i stopped playing after 2 hours it's a good job i didn't buy it![]()
You know you were worried you were starting to sound like a fanboy? Well, you are. It's pathetic because everyone is acting like they didn't know what to expect. Practically everything in the game has been showcased in gameplay videos and interviews with Will Wright, nothing has been cut from the game, and it's been marketed as a "family game" since forever.
I must be the only one around here who was actually paying attention, because I didn't raise my expectations above what we were shown and that's exactly what was delivered. Frankly, if you're surprised about anything in Spore then you've not paid attention for the last three years.
Anything you liked in the video will not have made retail. That's a pretty good rule of thumb. Each phase is so stupidly simplistic a 5 year old could probably do it. You can put arms in your *** and rocketlaunchers under your tank and it'll still show the same crappy animations. This is pretty much like a shovelware wii game. It has no depth whatsoever. In civ phase, you can make LAND, SEA, AIR, units, no matter how you designed it, it'll fire the same way and you'll barely see the details. Even the water tiles conflict. Nothing you create in any phase except the cell phase has any function whatsoever. And the second phase is like some really shallow mmo, you grind enemies or play simon says tons of times til you evolve.
*Gives you the OcUK kewl klub membership card and decoder ring.*
Those who did like it, explain why? Has it got you addicted? Are you enjoying the 'light hearted' gaming?

You know you were worried you were starting to sound like a fanboy? Well, you are.

@ naysayers =- Didn't you watch any of the videos?!?!

I agree, i havent actually played it yet, my daughter too it upstairs as soon as it arrived yesterday, the very fact that a 13 year old girl has been desperate for months to play the game, is a sure sign that its a family game.
My kids loved the sims, now they love spore, i know i probably wont like it, but ill give it a try sometime no doubt.

Ok,those who don't like it,stay out, we understand it isnt for all.
