Sprouts!

Had to buy a pack of frozen ones this year as we got some fresh ones delivered with our last tesco delivery that were best before 22nd December .

Still, better than nothing I guess.

Soggy, overboiled, steamed, pan fried or whatever way you can cook them, i LOVE them!

Mother tends to just steam them nowadays, with a bit of pepper and butter on them afterwards, while i tend to do the chopped in a pan with bacon thing,

I think tomorrow will be steamed though.

I used to love them. But not so big on them now. Still definitely like them!

Mrs S just hates ALL vegetables. But that's ok. We like her anyway :)

Merry Christmas everyone. I thought this would be an apt thread for seasons greetings.

I'm going to boil my sprouts to hell and back. There is negative-correlation between time boiled and amount farted, i.e. the more you boil them, the less you fart :p

Biggest mistake everyone makes is following Grandma's advice of making a crossed knife cut + through the sprout & people wonder why they get soggy sprouts, don't cut them it lets the water in :D:D

Surely you just reduce the cooking time if you cut them?

I par boil mine for a couple of minutes, chop 'em in half then fry with chopped bacon, honey, a bit of chilli and crushed/chopped cashew nuts (or pine nuts if you have them). Fry until the honey glaze is caramelising and serve immediately.

Steamed then put into icy water.
When ready fried pancetta and then added sprouts and black pepper then some port. Pretty standard really.

I like them just steamed and seasoned though.

Sprouts are horrible, they take me back to my schools days which is quite a long time ago :o
Even worse is the day after!
