Sprouts!

Just heading over the my mums and am in charge of, as usual, the sprouts! :D

Going to par boil then for a couple of minutes then sautee them in butter and bacon. Will no doubt be a little gassy later. :o

I like my sprouts simple, boiled in some ever so slightly salted water, until there just soft... not soggy though, then put on a tray dish sorta thing, with a couple of knobs of butter left to melt into them, we had purple and regular ones this year though, even though most of the colour went into the water it still looked good on the plate

Had the smashed Brussels from the good food magazine, very nice. The chestnut stuffing though  best stuffing ever had.

Had bubble and squeak with left over Brussels from bunch with turkey.

Can't stand the goddamn things, never understood the fascination of something that resembles and (I presume) tastes like devil snot.

And yeah, I've had them cooked perfectly. Still no. I didn't even bother making them this year.

Half em, chuck em in a roasting pan with roughly chopped shallots, season and drizzle with oil, then into the oven on it's hottest temperature for 20 minutes.

Take out, drizzle generously with balsamic then finish the seasoning.

You can add other stuff such as bacon/chestnuts/blue cheese to taste.

Boiled/steamed sprouts are terrible, roast are godly.

They are great when cooked properly, with a nice crunchy fresh texture and flavour. I like to cook mine until almost cooked to the middle. Refresh them in cold water, then fry with some salt, pepper, butter and bacon. Lovely, crisp and fresh this time of year. :)
