Sprouts!

Im not a great lover of sprouts but i will eat them.

However, my housemate wish i didn't, the smell disgusts me sometimes as well!!!

I love sprouts, don't think we see then out in Cyprus too much. I will have to try and persuade the Mrs to try some of the recipes on this thread, alright they will have to be of the frozen variety but needs must.

So steam them for 5 minutes and then put them in a frying pan (the same as you would cook an egg in for instance) with bacon and chesnuts you say ?

Bacon does indeed make everything better.

Here's one (bacon free) idea: Semi-boil them, then get a bit of oil in a wok, turn it up to eleven, and toss the sprouts in with a clove of garlic that is very finely sliced. Then, turn it down a bit and drop in a tablespoon or two of oyster sauce (found in the Chinese section of most supermarkets, in a bottle like soy sauce but it's thicker) and stir it all together.

You can do this with broccoli, to, and also pak choi or choi sum if you get your hands on any.

Doesn't sound good, but trust me it is. Learned from family members in Malaysia.

I've found that the only sprouts worth buying are the ones still on the 'tree', but they can be really nice! Just a quick boil and eat them while they're still a tiny bit crunchy - yummy. Plus, my rabbits love the stalk.

Having spent the first twenty-eight years of my life only ever seeing sprouts loose in a bag, can you imagine the look on my face when I came across these 'sprout-sticks' in Asda the other year? For about five seconds my brain had a real life BSOD episode.

I LOVE sprouts. I often have them, not just at Christmas. Truly terrific, I don't understand how anyone could dislike them.
