Sri Lanka massacres

ISIS aren't in Sri Lanka, it's a loose organisation but was based in Syria and Iraq. I would've sent Western forces in to wipe them out of both areas rather than just use airstrikes and special forces

But they were forced out: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-45547595

America didn't want another Vietnam in the middle east. Why risk soldiers unnecessarily when drone strikes were working?

I'm pretty sure I used past tense when I said "I would've sent in Western forces", not "I would", obviously I know ISIS has been defeated now in the Middle East. I don't agree that it would've been another Vietnam which is why I said I would've sent Western forces in, they were a bunch of savages committing horrendous war crimes and we should've stopped them a long time ago with force.

If you think petty one-upmanship on a forum is important when scores of people have died in a terror attack, it says more about you than me.

I still contend that when people think of Global conflict they mean multiple countries at war with one another.

:D:D:D

Have you considered being a politician? Petty one-upmanship is fine for you until you lose and then it's petty. Hilarious. Goal posts shift and shift.

You posted the link trying to score a point and it was blatantly wrong. Your one-upmanship backfired and now your claiming the moral high ground.

Just accept you were wrong. You're trying to use peoples deaths against him, which is in extremely poor taste.

ISIS goes global: 143 attacks in 29 countries have killed 2,043

If 46 countries were involved in combat during World War 2 then I'd say having 50+ involved in combat during the 18 years of the "Global War on Terror" should also be called a "World War", only calling it that would be too scary for Governments to admit too, so instead we minimise the terms, the casualties caused (on both side and innocents) and the sheer scale of the problem of radical Islamic terrorism because tackling the cause - a perversion of an ideology - is almost impossible.

So sadly its here to stay, this is now the new "normal", a continuous pin-prick of small attacks on anyone and anything a bunch of nutters think will get them into their warped version of heaven.

The problem with what you have written is this odd underlying assumption that without religion there would be an absence of all those things you consider bad.

No, I don't. Religion is the best tool for them, but it's not the only one. The assumption you have created to dismiss my post (a) is yours, not mine and (b) would still be irrelevant to my post even if I did make that assumption (which I don't).

I think "manipulation" and "authoritarianism" are omnipresent in our present godless hellhole of a society.

I don't live there, so I couldn't comment on your society.

As the Queen holds the title of "Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England" and with Sri Lanka being an ex-British colony, I wonder if it's been considered. Although security considerations for William (should he visit) would have to be worked out, which takes time, so maybe a quick stop-off on the way home might be considered.

Additionally, we don't know if a Royal request has been asked already as it's upto Sri Lanka to decide whether they accept if an offer is made and a refusal would be kept quiet.
