SSD + AVG

I have a corsair force gt 120gb ssd which was booting windows a bit slower than I would have liked (benchmarks were just fine though). I also had another pc with an ocz agility 3 60gb that started windows faster. After some trial and error I found out it was AVG 12.0 which was slowing down my boot. Uninstalled it and installed avast instead and now boot speed is what I was expecting. So if you have an ssd which isn't booting windows as fast as you'd like and have AVG installed then you could give this a try

I'll bear that in mind when I install mine tomorrow as I use AVG.

I use AVG and my boot times are minimal. Though I use a Crucial M4 128Gb

On the windows animation, does it finish before the window completes? Minimal is subjective, whats fast to you may be slow for me

ahah yes it finishes. then goes straight to login screen w/o hanging. I think my systems quite fast enough tbh xD minus the misaligned partition issue.

Do a reboot and remember when the windows animation finishes, uninstall avg and try again, should be much quicker. Avast doesn't slow it down at all, or microsoft security essentials which I just tried.

I don't like avast tbh xD tis why I use AVG. Im quite happy with my boot times anyway

Running avg here and corsair Gt 60gb,no slow bootups at all,with 25gb free space,download bootracer and post times

Boot speed rating - excellent
Time to logon - 4 seconds
Time to desktop - 10 seconds
User logon waiting time - 0 seconds

Ran it again and got 9 seconds. What does this actually record because it keeps counting then shows a completely different number.

my boot up apparently takes 25 seconds. with 13 seconds to logon. :L

lol if I reinstalled windows it would probably go a little faster tbh. But that means reinstalling sooo much stuff and I just cba xD

How full is your ssd,and hwmany programs are selected to load at startup? Mine used to be 12 secs to desktop now 25 because its nearly full and have few more programs at start up

start up programs are

anti virus (now microsoft security essentials)
evga precision
asrock extreme tuner
nvidia drivers
utorrent
virtu control panel
some adobe + java things

about 50gb / 120 used
