For day to day use you wont notice any difference really. The Adata comes with some useful cloning software too which is a bonus.

Its only when you have many programs open where you will see some real benefits on an M4 over the Adata.
 
The new Intel 520series looks impressive. Saying that I'm very happy that I went for the M4, suits my needs.

Wow! Just wow!

This is going to be my future SSD boot up drive upgrade, so I ran CrystalDiskMark myself to see what performance gains i'd receive and this is what it returned for my current (WD I believe) 500GB HDD:

I have enough money to get one right now. It's very tempting to do so. I don't know whether or not to wait until I can purchase a 2500k, mobo, and SSD all in one go or to buy the SSD now :p.

Thanks for the update, looks like the Adata is going to be in my system soon on that advice.
 
I have a 256GB M4 for my OS/Games drive. Can't fault it, so damned fast!

The only regret I have is not spending the extra on a 512GB model. I'm debating buying a 512GB one anyway and flogging the 256 (or perhaps just having two SSDs in the system).
 
for the folks asking about the corsair gt,heres my figures but its not an os boot drive its set up as ssd caching with a 2tb samsung hdd,figures do suffer slightly from if you would install the os onto the ssd, but not too much

oh and synchronous nand is superior to asynchronous nand ssd's,asysnchronous read/write figures drop off when they are half full

For weeks i have followed this thread and at first i decided on the M4 as a birthday treat but then the Intel was added and so on the strength of the report and its findings and that i am mainly a gamer i have gone with the Intel drive, i hope it is worth the extra money :)

Hi,
I can tell you the Intel 520 has made playing Battlefield 3 a pleasure after the long loading times and stuttering of performance with the old HDD. Like a new PC.

I have the Intel 510 verson and it is deffo worth the extra money, loading times greatly reduced in bf3 and it just feels a lot more responsive. ;)

Plus you pay for Intels bomb proofness, I've had mine for over a year now and it still works as if brand new. :D
 
Afternoon

I was wondering if someone can help me out. I just installed crucial m4 64gb, its my main os drive. sata3. I think it has latest firmware, but not sure (can someone tell me how to check that?)

I just ran ATTO and results almost the same in read but write isnt



Please help
 
Looks about right for the 64gb

Sequential Read (up to): 550MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s)
Sequential Write (up to): 110MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s)

SSD Life will tell you which firmware you have, and also tells you about drive health.

Edit:

Otherwise go to Device Manager, right click on the drive and select properties, select details tab, select hardware lds from the drop down menu
This will then show the firmware you are on.

Crystal comparison made loads more sense, aparently write is twice as fast on 120gig, i got mine to raid anyway, so not worried about that :)

 
So which of of three should I get:
- 128 Crucial M4
- 128 Corsair Performance Pro
- 120 Intel 520

I do play games, but I'm using other hdd for steam folder and some apps i.e. adobe cs.
