Stalker 2

I've got to the mission where I need to go to SIRCAA and this is where people say the game breaks quite hard and feels untested.
It's taken over 92hrs to get to this point as I've been going as slow as possible, doing side missions and trips to stashes etc.

Going slow and doing lots & lots of stash runs means my own stash is now full of some of the best weapons, attachments, artifacts etc, but most of all, ammo. I have over 500 and often well over 1000 of pretty much every type of ammo and over 1 million coupons. The only mod I'm using which affects coupons is the 50% repair cost. I know the economy can be hard for people if they just push through the story, but I gear up at a base and hit 3 or 4 stashes at a time. That along with the random gunfights/looting on my travels is bagging me loads of cash. The story can wait for another patch, I'm enjoying just exploring and having random fights
Dont remember any issues with SIRCAA mission ,mind i played that after the big patches so maybe was issues before.....

Same as I'm doing Dave. Have took my time and raided stashes and ramdon skirmishes will bandits and mercenaries ect. 999+ of every ammo type and 1.5 Million coupons. It's good as you save coupons in the long term not being ripped off for ammo. Only few mods used also. "Half the cost of repairs" mod is good also. It is a grind going back and forth selling stuff. Better when you have good rep and the traders show as green on the map. Other than that, yep il keep shooting stuff up till it's patched. 136 hours in.

Does the game still need a bit of time to mature? I'm seeing mixed opinions online, some say it's fine while other people are mentioning that it still needs work. Also, how does it run?

The atmosphere in this game is second to none, just got in and out of the Swamps and had my heart racing constantly!

Is the NPC pop in and LOD really as immersion breaking as some people are saying? I'm really wanting to try the game, but if the experience is going to be spoiled by issues, I'd rather wait.

I feel the game has two graphical weaknesses right now, shadows and foliage/trees are quite poor even on the 'epic' highest setting. They pop-in at close distances. Despite being a UE5 game, it doesn't seem to make use of signed distance fields for its shadows, nor nanite for a lot of its geometry.

There's no hardware lumen option, only software, and it lets the image quality down quite a lot. Perhaps in the Jan 30th update they will add it back in, as they want to take advantage of the new GPUs coming around the corner, and nvidia already confirming that stalker 2 is one of the games getting a day 0 update.

I think I'll give it a few more months before I try it. I'll probably have a new gpu by then, so will (hopefully) get more of a benefit.

Make sure you have a powerful CPU too, nothing has come close to the demand that this game puts on my 7800X3D.
Indeed upgrading my aging i7 6700k to the i5 14600k made a massive difference even on my meagre 4060ti was dipping in mid 30 fps now stays well above 80+ fps on 1080p max settings most of the time

Anyone playing this with a 5800x3d?

Performance?
Absolutely fine but moderately populated towns will chug a little, which isn't very often. When I'm exploring the zone or doing the story it's more than capable of keeping up with the 4090's(framegen) 120hz display cap. This is on a 5700X3D which is the same as yours but 200hz less

I'm trying to determine if its worth upgrading to a 9800x3d. I can see a lot of the new games announced such as the new Doom has high CPU requirements but usually those spec sheets are more marketing plus in my mind I still feel like the 5800x3d is still a very capable cpu.

Ah man, had to load an old save to retry a section. All my guns broke, suit gave up, and then I got stuck in an emission being chased by some nuts creature I’ve not encountered before. Hours wasted.
