Stalker 2

It seems like a bit of a lottery reading everything in this thread, but I haven't really had any issues with it after about 20 hours. The only mod I'm using is one that clearly labels the different ammo types which just replaces some images. Nothing that changes the engine or experience.
That's great to hear, thank you. Yeah hopefully when I get to it, it will be fine but to be honest the last game had a lot of bugs for me but I really enjoyed it nonetheless

Yeah early on it was a bit of a mess bug wise, but a concerted campaign to route out major game breaking bugs and performance issues solved a lot of the initial problems. Though it appears there is a bit of a lottery on stability. Some get away with a smooth play through others suffer.
I think at this stage its very much a case of "milage may vary". I had a couple early game braking issues that were solved by reloading earlier saves. Plus an enduring performance issue on long play sessions. However it appears my experience has been one of the better ones. Most of my issues were patched out in early patches. As it stands I've paused shy of the end before you reach the point of no return for the end game. As the masochist I am quite happy to just stop where I am. I have decided to wait for all DLC to release before I finish the game.
Cheers - that does seem to be the concensus. Has the DLC been officially confirmed or is it just a rumor at the moment? I may get the "GOTY edition" or similar which I'm sure they'll do if they're going to release a DLC

How do you tell how far you are thru the story, does steam tell you somewher ? I've about 60hrs of playtime and >200 deaths !

The story at times leaves an awful lot of time between places where you can upgrade/trade etc, meaning I end up short of ammo, and carrying too much stuff, and by the time I get to a refuge, all of money coming from loot is used to repair my stuff, and have little left for actual upgrades.

It was about 10 hrs into the game before I realised you could do a manual save, I thought it was autosave only.

I never saw a mission percentage in the game, i just checked the mission name against a walkthrough to see how far i had left.

You can return to a nearby friendly camp at any time to upgrade / trade and there are usually missions available from the barkeep if you need to make some quick cash.
