Stalker 2

Sound is integral to the Stalker experience imo, I wouldn't say it's a 'scary' game, there was usually audio warnings that preceded anything jumping out at you.

But the sound created the atmosphere, it's used mostly as a 'stay away' warning, unless of course you had to go that way, but the sound is paramount for the tense Stalker experience that I'm hoping I'm getting again.

What does it say? Can't watch at the moment.
I refuse to watch a video with the caption "early reviews say it all"

They say what the devs want you to say..... same with TEN OUT OF TEN dragon age lol....
Am,azong game you must buiy NAOWWWWW!!!!! QUICK BEFORE THE PRICE DROPS!!!!! BEAN COUNTERS MATTER

All these influencers can go DO ONE... we see the same product reviews on one channel as another..... look at hardware reviews.... they are told specific talking points etc, told things they HAVE TO SAY to get paid....

I bet if you watch enough "game reviews" previews, whatever you'll notice a pattern too

They are not honest reviews they are paid SHILLS

yuu even have people doing hardware reviews that have less knowledge than the average member of this forum. ( I noticed a thing with monitor reviews, the people reviewing them don't touch them, you only see closeups of touching, it's almost like it's a static background and they don't even have the product, it's just weird like they aren't sharing a physical space)

we all know what happens when you don't play nice... NVidia etc will ban you from having early access to there products// its happened before... was it hardware unboxed?

they are not reviews they are endorsements/ advertisements with a "friendly face".

Im going out of my way to not have the game spoiled anyway... don't need some tuber to show me all the cool stuff

Calm down dude, you're getting worse than me

I only posted the video to show the different parts of the game, such as the immersion etc. His personal views haven't swayed me at all..

Any tips?
Small thing is sound... try turning it off in what would appear to be dramatic scenes. Music is surprisingly important in tension building.

I play the game in small chunks, the sound and expectation for horror once the music shifts is exactly what freaks me out as well in all these games.

I also played Control from remedy but stopped like 30% in :D

So I may or may not finish the game but I still want to experience the world they've built.

Annoying that you cannot preload from CDkeys. These days I have terrible internet. I probably won't be able to play until the following day after release.
Pointless preloading, especially a 150GB game on Steam. It will take 2x/3x longer to decrypt than it does to downlaod so you are actually better off downloading at launch as it decrypts as it downloads saving a whole load of time.

Yep. Comes down plenty fast on my 1gb line :D

Yeah, I did not watch it. Unless it was with the guy calling the game stalkier which I watched for a few minutes

New somewhat controversial info

The system requirements released by the developers were with dlss/tsr enabled but the system requirements chart did not mention this so people thought those settings were for native resolutions

For example the chart says to get 4k 60 you need a rtx4080 or 7900xtx, but the chart forgot to mention, "4k" means with dlss/tsr on

yea true or the 4090 column should say 53fps like Nvidia s benchmark, not 60+

*4k meaning half resolution and then upscaled by ai to 4k

it probably wouldn't take too many complaints to whatever body is in charge of video game advertising.

Remember when they had to state if it were ingame footage or not on trailers.

Must suck for people who don't get on well with frame gen

Interesting to see this is coming out on GP soon. I really loved the original Stalker game and Call of Pripyat (and also a modded Clear Sky to a lesser extent), and I had no idea the release date for this one was so close.

I've read a couple of preview/demo review articles, one of which seemed disappointed in how lacking in challenge the game was, and the other noting how hardcore and difficult it could feel at times... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I presume we'll see some full reviews any day now. Any ideas when the review embargo passes?

They don't even need to market frame gen at all, simply using DLSS is enough to get 60fps or more in path tracing at 4K output so the latency introduction of frame gen is out of the picture completely at this point and DLSS is as good as native quality rendering now in most games where you cans ee differences only after pixel peeping. I can play path traced CP2077 or Wukong or Alan Wake II with just DLSS Performance with 4K output and they run at 60fps, for example.

Some will say well there's ghosting, no, there's ghosting even at native res, look at Silent Hill 2 as a prime example, one of the few games using heavy amounts of particle effects in UE5, loads of leaf ghosting regardless of rendering mode, which was reduced by further game patching.

So this demonstrates that these issues people like to moan about online are not related to the tech, but more related to poor optimisation by the game devs, yet "gamers" are too quick to point the finger at GPU vendors and give a hall pass to the developers given this keep happening every year.

the one area I will say and have always said requires finger pointing at nvidia is frame gen marketing, they PR it for all 40 series cards to improve the gaming experience but the reality is that it is only a proper experience on a 4090, the lower cards have too much latency introduction at any meaningful res/settings in high complexity modern engines where a base 60fps before FG is enabled is not possible on those lower GPUs.

Upscalers and frame generation are now a hot discussion on the forums. Some players are claiming that the industry’s overreliance on the technology is “very worrying,” while others have devolved into arguments, as expected.

A Stalker Steam forum mod banned someone for complaing about them 'lying' about requirements due to the ommision of stating upscaling required for the updated system specs, Devs apologised on twitter and reversed the ban.

What have most people selected: the standard, deluxe, or ultimate edition?

Looks to me like the standard edition might the one to get. I wonder if the bonus side-quest/season pass is worth it?

Is CDKeys still the go-to for the cheapest deals?
