why is everyone buying cdkeys and pretending they live in countries they don;t in order to get a realistic price.
if we didn't buy them instead they might sort out the ridiculous regional pricing rip off....

I'm in 2 minds about not buying it at all if there's really no preload on a 160gb game

must be a 3-5hour download for most people? I heard the game has no DRM literally easier to pirate it than buy it if that's true....

wonder how many people will cancel the download on steam and refund the game, when they realise they can just download alternatively for free and not wait much longer.

no preload in 2024 = no sense, whats the average internet speed like 100bit? so about 4 hours

released at 4pm, playable about 9pm...

1gb down 1gb up so not a problem for me i finish work at 2pm on wed for a 4 o clock release time... cant wait...

so glad 32:9 is supported

21 mins to download 160gb. lovely

One of the best things I did was upgrading to gigabit broadband.
I no longer store loads of games on my hard drive. If I want to play one I can download it in 10 minutes or less.

Huh. That is not how CDKeys.com works. I don't have to put in a different country or anything like that.

Yep. I have 1gb up and down also. Faster to download than preload it and wait for it to unencrypt

Unfortunately, I renewed my contract shortly before Virgin full fibre was installed in my area. When I do change to full fibre, then I bet I will be in for a nice surprise.

I suppose what made me reconsider grabbing this before release day, was the knowledge of how important the modding community is with Stalker. So, if by some chance the game is a little underwhelming (I sure hope not!), then the mods will see us through alright. The modding side of it should be a safe bet.

It’ll be about 2.5 days to download here!

What’s most annoying is we’ve had fiber installed in the lane for nearly 2 years but AirBand can’t get their crap together and finish the install.

Still reliant on 16Mb download until they do. Stick your 1Gb connections where the sun doesn’t shine please!

Bought GamePass for COD, Stalker 2 is a nice bonus!

Pirating is a concern for the devs but I'd much rather have a DRM free game personally.
Devs don't care about the UKs mostly archaic network infrastructure. For anyone with a half decent connection you will be able to download faster than the time it takes to unencrypted 160gb.
Most annoying thing personally is all the preorder bonuses. If I buy the game after release I won't get the extra missions and weapons extra but I get if I pirated the game I'd get them.

preloads on steam are still encrypted though, and any group pirating it will have silly fast download speeds anyway.

just hurts legit customers if there's no preload.?

If it has no DRM the difference between a preload and no preload is about 5 mins before it appears on yarrbay or whatever.
but to the customer buying it legit, no preload is up to probably 2-6+ hours for the average gamer

so they are going to make customers wait hours, just so it takes 5 minutes longer before it's on every pirate website going.

Yup, not going to lie, getting 1gb is probably the best upgrade I've done to my gaming, not the CPU, not the raytracing, not the NVME, the 1gb, especially for someone who gets through as many titles as I do in a year.

I'll buy it when I buy a 5090 equipped pc next year when the 5090 releases. I'll buy it even if the media doesn't give it 10/10's etc, iirc SOC didn't review amazingly when it released, but it eventually gained a cult following and people grew to love the game. I'll be happy my money is going to a games studio employing people who are fighting for ukraines freedom.

I see the CDKeys version for the UK is currently out of stock, so it looks like a direct purchase from Steam or GOG, though that will be more expensive.
I think my system might struggle quite a bit with high settings at 1440p, though I hope to get a new video card in a few months anyway.
