The paranoid type either the game has no DRM, or they were scared pirates were going to crack it and stream it stutter free over at yarrnet.heistthesales

Game is DRM free apparently so devs say they don't want to risk it getting pirates before release.

You must be right, though, as someone else on YT said that they also purchased the NA/EU version for UK activation.

DRM free doesn't prevent them encrypting the bulk files and only releasing the smaller critical binaries (and maybe other script files if super paranoid) on release day.
