Stalker 2

It will be janky on release if history is anything to go by, but by the same measure it will improve, especially with the official modding tools that have been promised (and should deliver, by the same measure again)

I think my £25 gamble will pay off.

cant see it happening.. its UE5 which has been modded to suit stalker 2.. they are basically calling it UE 5 GSC edition.. wukong ran like a dream for me on release.

A-Life 2.0 will be a massive improvement over 1 which originally was really good in stalker.. i've watched a lot of videos and also the 1.5 hour documentary on the making of the game and they seem like they know what there doing...

performance wise i think people will moan who have subpar PCs... but then again if you think your going to run a UE5 game with max settings on anything less a 3080(which still may struggle) then you need to do some homework.. remember crysis?

You got it for £25 too? Nice :D

Remember it takes longer to decrypt a preload than it does to download it on day of release as it decrypts on realtime. This is the most sensible way to get it for anyone on a 500Mbps connection or faster for games of this size.
My internet is like a wet bit of string, although that would be faster. No fibre optics here in the wilds. It will probably take a day to download.

There's really not a lot of similar games sadly with only Metro being viable at this point with Fallout basically being 'My first RPG' level of quality, so don't much care if it's not perfect I'm going to buy it at full price.

Pre-ordered too, never played the first Stalker so i have no idea how to play it...im told its not a straight forward shooter with a lot of mechanics around your survival you have to adhere too.

I see the usual unreal engine traversal stutters there but has to be said we've seen this in edited videos before whereas the game has been OK. Hellblade 2 had it, for example.

Doesn't look ideal though!

So that's with DLSS and Frame Gen enabled, video seems a bit sneaky not mentioning Frame gen.

Either way I'll probably have to turn some eye candy down for the 2080ti and hope the Frame Gen mod doesn't have too many ghosting issues.

I don't think it's sneaky, this is what "RTX" means, it is a suite of tech, which includes Frame Gen, so that's fine. It's clear that without Frame Gen you will still get over 60fps though which is what i suspected anyway from way back and this video demonstrates it providing the GPU is powerful enough.

It has FSR 3.1, so you don't need a mod for frame gen, just use DLSS upscaling with FSR 3.1 Frame Gen.
