Stalker 2

Didn't take that long on mine and I have a 7800X3D....

But also a 4080 Super OC, 64GB Ram and a NVME drive

Don’t think the rest make a difference. Maybe AMD takes longer? My drive speed is one of the fastest on the market, so it can’t be that.

Hoping to jump into more of this over the weekend.

Out of genuine curiosity - why is it so many games now require patching for sometimes quite obvious things?
I've been out of the loop awhile so probably missing something obvious but back in the day, patches were released for issues the makers didn't know about at the time of release.

I find it hard to believe the makers would see the reported issues and then think 'ahh the AI, we should've tested that'.

*I'm not saying this game has issues, i've not played it yet. Just something that seems to be commonplace with major releases now.

I suspect in this particular case, the Russians might have had something to say as to why things arent quite as tested as they might have been :)

In a more general sense, I think part of it might be down to how comparatively easy it is to patch things these days compared to the olden days of gaming, its much easier to deploy a patch to a game nowadays than it once was and maybe that makes it easier to say "we'll sort that out in a patch"

I'm of the opinion that games companies will release known buggy games, and know that gamers will inevitably end up as unpaid beta testers.

They also know that it's incredibly common for games to need multiple patches from day one.

Saves them a helluva lot of dosh not having to pay for in or out house testers.

I've just uninstalled it and will wait for the game to be patched.
Just too much broken currently for me hampering or completely ruining the experience.

None of them are techincally game breaking tbh but taken as whole package I'd rather wait until they are fixed and performance is more consistant.

To mention a few:

- HUD dissapears randomly and wont re-appear
- Persistant flickering on screen of textures
- Worldspace lighting and illumination is busted
- The darkness of some areas is just stupid imo, your torch lights 3cm in front of you.
- AI respawning constantly after the area has been cleared
- AI can see me through walls
- AI teleport all over the place
- I've died to teleporting and respawning AI more than anything else
- The standard Unreal Engine stuttering stuff but turned up to max
- I've gone from 100+ FPS to sub 20 FPS by walking about 3 feet. Using DLSS Balanced.
- The sound positioning is just off and in no way relays where the AI is
- The mouse controls feel 'mushy' and 'wavey' and not precise at all. Presume some form of accelaration is on and I cant see where to turn it off
- Not a bug but I hope they fix it....the compiling of shaders every single yime you launch the game is pretty irritating
- Ultrawide FOV is just wrong, I've got it set to 95 and it feels like 60 on a console.

I'm absolutely loving this game, it feels like a return to when I used to love gaming, I wish more games had this feeling of like a made for pc vibe. (Showing my age!)
I know exactly what you mean. It's awesome, feels like going back in time to when PC games felt like PC games.

17 minutes to compile textures on a 5800X3D / 6800XT, does it get any quicker the more you kick the game off? It reminds me of the old ZX Spectrum days having to load games from a tape cassette before you could play them only I don't think they took that long.

They should put a minigame on that screen
