Maybe I do.

Make sure you have not loaded any of the following apps before you try to launch the game:

FRAPS
DAEMON Tools Lite
MagicISO
PowerISO

or similar programs that let you mount virtual drives. The SecuROM anti-piracy system the game uses can interpret the presence of these apps as intent to pirate.


If you have tried to launch the game and failed, you need to restart your computer, make sure none of the above is loaded, then run the game as normal.

I always use FRAPS to take screenshots but I got the game working by not having FRAPS loaded before launching the game. To use FRAPS, I ALT-Tabbed out of the game, launched FRAPS, ALT-tabbed back and FRAPS then works as usual.

Update: Haha. You have to love the difference between the dates written in the start video and what the guy says. Genius.

Good you got it working. And yeah they got a little lazy there not bothering to fix the discrepancy between text and voice-over :)
 
Well, it loaded fine, set all to max and some settings will only be applied after restarting the game of course. So I exited the game and now when I load the game the screen just goes black.

Wondering if I made an error when selecting possible features which may or may not be for 5*** ATI cards only?

Edit : Some folk on the stalker forums have had tried re-installing the game, so I did. After that it wouldn't let me install the game again so I've tried a drm fix but no joy. Might just have to wait for a patch. Can't be bothered to get annoyed over it, too late. :(

It came with a soundtrack Cd, who listens to these?? Might try it on in the car and get in the mood for later!
 
I own the first one but got bored within ten minutes of playing it. I might have another go though. Are there any mods that are must-haves/recommended for the first game? (Even though I've never played it before, well, I've played ten minutes worth). Such as graphical upgrades, mods that improve the game/gamplay etc.

I was not prepared to give SOC any more time after an hour or so - it just felt kind of clunky. I have revisited it with latest rig and whilst extremely smooth the gameplay still bothers me! I then got clearsky and that lasted not much longer than the first one so I hope this one is a better game as I think the graphics are cool .. specially the volumetric lighting ..
 
Mine came this morning. Didn't run very well on my 4890 with DX10 so I changed it to DX9. Re-started the game and now it won't work.

Cba with this all over again tbh. Will wait a year before the game is playable.
 
Come on, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is awesome. A rare example of gameplay over graphics.

I'd play it with static lighting if I had to.

CoP is actually VERY stable. I don't think I CTD'd once, and I've completed it twice (I have the RU version).

Sorry for being cautious.

S.O.C. was actually pretty stable for me. I played it all the way through without access to patches and had about 5 crashes to desktop.

Clear Sky patched however had a ton of script bugs so I couldn't progress, plus crashing to desktop a lot more than 5 times (including the initial launch, not a good sign).

So yeah, I'll wait for at least one patch before considering purchase. :)
 
Hi installed this game today a bit glitchy but ok with win7 32 bit and a Asus 5870,

But the only option I get for playing is DX10, Is this not supposed to one of the first DX11 games??

Haha yup, CS was a joke on release. CoP was silky smooth I found tho :)
