STALKER mods

It's up to you what you do. I'd personally patch stalker to 1.04 as per most ppl's recomendations.

Getting the new ram may help, but it could just be that your ram needs the upper end of the voltage that the mfr rates it at (which isn't uncommon).

Should definitely patch to 1.0004 since it has bug fixes and performs better. Every version I've played has crashed occasionally, usually after being on for 3-4 hours (memory leak?). A game crashing during installation is something else entirely though since all it's doing is copying/extracting files and the game isn't even running, plus most games use common third party installers, so stalker probably has the same installer as a host of other games.

OK then ive just reinstalled Stalker.

What is the best patch atm (for mods of course)
And is S.H.A.R.P.E.R, Float32, STALKER skies and the Faiakes mod all compatible with each other?

For Faiakes, only 1.0004 is compatible.
Faiakes and S.H.A.R.P.E.R will be, float32 is difficult to ensure compatibility with, and, iirc, it was built into the 1.0004 patch anyway. Stalker Skies, I don't know, sorry :o

Mines on 1.0005 with "weather overhaul" which has Skies, SHARPER and Float.

I've also got a small realistic gun mod.

I'm leaning towards getting the Oblivion Lost mod over AMK.

If I pass an exam on Monday, I will treat myself with a trip to Chernobyl in September :)

Fly out on Friday
Saturday in Kiev
Sunday take the tour
Monday fly home

Tour takes in Reactor 4, Red Forrest, Pipryat and if the road isn't flooded the scrap yard where they dumped all the military and fire vehicles (You know the dump your asked to defend near the start well thats the scrapyard but on a very very small scale)

The more people that want to go the cheaper the tour is - if you fancy it!

Aha, will stick with 1.0004 for now then!

Wacked my ram V up to 2v from 1.8v as suggested and it doesn't seem to have helped. Am just un-installing *everything* Creative related on my pc at the moment - going with onboard sound for now ... see if that might be my problem (the onboard wouldn't support EAX so might be causing issues if stalker tries to use it)

Well I've now applied the 3gb enabler to stalkers exe and have patched to 1.0004 and it still just hangs as I leave the hatch right at the start of the game :(

Feel like just giving up on this until I reinstall windows at some point !

What does your C:\Users\Public\Documents\STALKER-SHOC\logs\xray_(username_here).log say ?

It was mentioned to me by someone in this or another thread - http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t..._id=4926&page=3&sort=ASC&sec_id=12&offset=-60

Thats a thread which references it, it was originally made for Sup Com but works fine with Stalker *apparently*

I had a look through the xray_me.log file and there is an error mentioned near the end :-
***FATAL***: Too many lmap-textures (limit: 8 textures or 32M).
Reduce pixel density (worse) or use more vertex lighting (better).

& there's this at the very end:-
[error][ 1450] : Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
