STALKER mods

Thanks. Any of those reduce performance at all? Also, looking at the readme of Faiakes, it looks like it'd just make the game quite a bit easier?
 
I haven't noticed any performance decrease, the S.H.A.R.P.E.R mod may need and 256mb+ graphics card, though.
As regards to Faiakes being easier, that is true, but it adds a lot of depth onto the game, so it's kind of a trade off.
 
I've just got STALKER so am interested in this too, not too bothered about gameplay type mods (at least until I've seen what 'vanilla' mode is like) but I remember reading about some floating point mod for performance a while back - is this still required with the 1.005 patch?
 
The AMK ABC and SRP compilation mod. And I've played them all. But this is the best and transforms the game into what it should have been. Check it out at the official forums on the GSC website.
 
The only thing that puts me off about Faikes, is the damn camo weapon skins.... Imo, they're tacky. Would i be able to download it, and then somehow get the skins not to show up?
 
You can! Go to the C:\Program Files\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl\gamedata\textures\wpn directory and move/rename/delete the ones you don't like.
 
The Fiakes mod doesn't work for me. Well it does - it loads up the new game, but when I click to get my first mission, the game crashes.
 
Are you using the latest 2.4 version ?
Are you using Faiakes on it's own ?
What are you clicking ?
Got the latest 1.0005 patch ?
Go to C:\Users\Public\Documents\STALKER-SHOC\logs and there should be a log detailing your crash, right at the very end it will name the file that caused it to occur.
 
Yes I'm using the latest version. Along with the SHARPER textures mod. Playing on 1.0005 patch.
It's at the start of the game where you're in that basement and the slighty fat guy either gives you a tutorial or the first mission. I click the mission.

exact same problem.

stalker shadow of chernobyl\gamedata\sounds\device\door_start.ogg for me according to the crash log any ideas?

edit: The actualy crash message says this:

XR_3DA.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl\bin\xrGame.dll" at 0023:054224C3

I can't understand why you guys are having problems with Faiakes. :(
The only thing I did differently was to install the float32 before faiakes.
