Star Trek general discussion (series, films, rumours)

For 1987 some of these full cg ships look remarkably good, especially around the 5 minute mark.

They do. But I'm damned glad that they went with physical studio models - even if that does introduce other headaches, there's a reality that you get with models that even current CGI (as good as it is) doesn't fully realise.

I do love Gary Hutzel's relating how heavy and complicated the model ILM built was (presumably the 6-footer) - ILM used to bitch like crazy about the Enterprise refit model built by Magicam's model shop for the first film, saying it was too heavy and the lighting circuit was too complicated...

Just a pity no Bones, Scotty or Uhura, looked pretty good for the most part.
Absolutely wow, and my next reaction was that shatner won't like his image being used, and then I see he, rod roddenberry and what I assume is nimoy's daughter are all exec producers, and indeed a special thanks to Kevin fiege and then it's wowx100 that it was officially sanctioned.

The Deepfake overlays work really well. I'm surprised that given both shatner and the nimoy family were involved we did get at least a word or two between spock/shatner.

Anyhow, its a marvellous piece for anyone that is an ST fan.

been hearing about this, going to enjoy this later on thanks for link.

No it hasn't. Just just 'fan' theory trying to cope by saying it's not the prime timeline because LD finale had the Klingons change to STD klingons because of the rift and the crew didn't know what they were.

However the Cerritos transformed in to ships from different ti.e periods too. So logically the rift was able to act as a time rift and not just an alternate dimension rift. Especially as the Klingon ship also changed to historical ships.

Oh. That's a little bit less than I was expecting. Ah well. Thank you for answering so promptly! Good christmas day with the family or friends?

I have erased STD from my memory anyway. As far as I'm concerned, the only new Star Trek is series three of Picard.
So no Strange New Worlds or Lower Decks then?

I encountered some youtube comments trying to tell me it was erased last night and had to go searching and that's all I found. Just wishful thinking.

Yes it was a good quiet one with the wife, just out for dinner and drinks then home. Yourself?

Not too bad! I don't really have family that visits so it was quiet - I had bought myself a few bits and pieces though, most notably to this thread a few of the eaglemoss XL models that I had been missing on the shelves.
