not had any problems myself in the beta and 5870 but then maybe my settings are different . ... cant comment on now as i have not yet been able to log in for a single minute since headstart begun ... dont know how everybody else is getting connected but it just refuses me so cant even create a character yet ... so much for headstart the retail release will be out before i get logged in at this rate and then the mass hordes will bring the server down :(

well i opened a ticket last night but no reply yet ... its verifying username OK but then goes to retrieve a charcter which i havent been able to create yet and then disconnects me ...
am i missing something ? cant create a character until you log in but wont open the create a charatcer screen just tries to retrieve and then throws me off

EDIT - im downlosding direct from STO to a seperate install and gonna bypass Steam to see if that fixs the problem

Seriously though, i don't blame you. I almost switched earlier this evening after annoying myself with looking at doing the same space and ground missions for another 40 levels again. I enjoy PvP too much though and the queues are just too long on Fed side which was the whole reason i changed to KDF in the open beta.

I think Cryptic will put more into this game than they have in previous ones but i'm not sure i can wait 45 days (i read that as a few months) for them to flesh the faction out to be worthy of launch nevermind months down the line. Kinda wierd playing them and being ****ed off about it but too stubborn to just uninstall, normally an MMO would be wiped by now if the side i was playing was in this state.

Not enough sci fi games.

at the end of the day at heart i am a care-bear pve-er :p, and always intended to have 1 of each. The initial plan was to grind klingon till the normal live date so i could make as much use of some of the pre-order items as possible, in hind-sight now, i dont care, but atleast it means when/if they do flesh out the klingons, ill be ready to go at t2

Ship - U.S.S. Grey Dove

EDIT - I spoke too soon , logged out to get a cuppa tea & post here that i got on and now cant get back in ... thought they were siupposed to iron all this kind of thing out in the beta , after all wasnt that the purpose of the open beta or was it solely to drive sales

lots of peeps on the Steam forum have reported that they downloaded direct from STO and are abypassing Steam altogether to get the game running...

I'm currently installing the direct download version and will test that and report back ... Steam has been a pain with STO since the OB finished and headstart didnt start but forced everyone to redownload the whole 10gigs again (some more than once)

EDIT - well results are in ... direct download and install bypassing Steam & bugger all difference , should i suppose count myself lucky i at least had time to do the tutorial :(

I got a SNR messege so I quit out on my main monitor and now I can't even get into character selection... I get the feeling it's down again...
 
Well i think i found a temp workaround but its no real answer ... only way i can get logged in properly and retrieve my setup is by using the EU proxy setting on the game lauchers options ... far from perfect as lag is horrendous and i have had a few disconects as well

can not get in at all unless i use the EU proxy setting :(

Can change whenever, nothing stopping you buying escort ship just now (if you have the credits)

Skill setup might be an issue later, haven't seen 100% dev confirmation that the ship skills for each tier stack or not.

They don't stack apart from the t2 ones unfortunately, t3 or t4 ones do count towards your class skills though such as attack pattern alpha, sensor scan etc, rotate shields etc. In case any of you haven't been taking the team leader skills, those count towards your class skills too, not by a lot but gives you a fwe % extra damage on attack pattern alpha if you take tactical team leader and the same with the other ones for the other class skills.

Looks like the servers went down again, just finished dinner and got back on too.
