Star Trek Online

I bought through steam, but just downloaded the beta client from the usual mirrors and used that - it's not worth downloading this through steam IMHO as it has a standalone patcher anyway.

I don't mind the extras not being available just yet, as some of us are at work :p
 
Yeah im at work too, was hoping to get some game time in at lunch though. Unfortunately servers are down untill 1pm GMT, FFS.

Steam was deleting my sto folder and then redownloading the whole 10gb, just tried it now on the work pc and it was working fine. Hopefully release will be fine...
 
Well, i wouldnt worry too much on missing out, as its down again :( there was me hoping for a few hours playtime b4 the masses decended onto it
 
Two items have appeared on the Cryptic Store:

Playable Federation Klingons: 240 points
Playable Federation Ferengi: 80 points

500 points is about a fiver with VAT included.

where x is a number between 0-360. Setting x to 0 resets all weapon colours back to normal.

Yes my friends you can change the colour of your beams and disruptors... Sad.

Taken from the Champions Online wiki. yay for using the same engine for multiple MMOs. I guess you'll need to find the powerID of your phaser attack.

You see to me i would have looked at someones energy weapons and adjusted my tactics according to the colour of the beam. Now its just.... meh
 
Will Steam issue new keys or just continue using the same key ??? .. dont understand the need for new keys if the game was a preorder and didnt change when headstart begun

must admit buying a game then a sub and now they want more money for items does smack of taking the customers for a ride somewhat ... though saying that my account has been spammed with 'buy your enery and merits here for $9.99' the last couple of days

I believe everyone needs a new key, no matter where bought. The retail key also unlocks the remaining bonuses - at least I'm sure I read that.

Europe release date isn't until Friday, blame the publishers and the outdated tradition of releasing games on Fridays here...

Well thats what i thought i saw somewhere ... 5th Feb launch in EU .. which begs the question - are we gonna be able to continue headstart until then or will they boot us off

assuming we get lucky - servers are up but keep booting me and are acting weird
