I am now Captain 4 Tactical in an escort and I am loving this game. Yes, its buggy and there is still lots to work out but so was wow in the early days. I am really enjoying my 'Beam Boat' and regardless of everyones opinion, nothing looks better than a ship full of phaser arrays :)

Oh, and I learnt last night that you can equip more than one console of the same type. had never even considered it before because everything in wow is unique equipped.

lol, an escort with beams? Certainly unique :p
 
I think you would be better buying cruiser ships....?

The only advantage to using an escort is the use of cannons and speed. Both of which aren't required in a ship using arrays.
 
You may mock my friends but I have stacked the tactical consoles that increase phaser damage and after tonight i have 3 phaser arrays, 2 phaser turrets and a chroniton torpedo launcher. I rip through just about everything and can use my speed to keep rotating my shoelds whilst maintaining firing. I dont know if i'll stay like this but it sure is pretty :)
 
I thought they introduced stacking penalties for more than one of the same console? adding a second/third tac console on my escort increased DPS by only 2 or 3 ish if I remember correctly. I ended up going 7.5% for cannons, 7.5% for phaser and 7.5% quantum
 
I have now made RA5 and the beam boat has fallen by the wayside. From reading the official forum we may all need to re-visit our weapon set-ups as they have made changes to the power usage figures.

Hi guys don't know if it's too cheeky to ask but I love the look of this game but really don't want to shell out for it if I find it's not for me. Can anyone send me over a guest pass so I can trial it?
 
i also like the look of this and many times have nearly bought it,but again i would like to trial the game aswell?

Would very much appreciated it if someone could invite me for a trial please:).
 
I quit a week or so ago. Reached RA5 and tried Klingon and another officer but it all feels a bit...hollow. Its difficult to quantify what makes a good game great but this seems to be missing something. Personally, I know it's everyones favourite hobby to knock WoW, but I have gone back to it.

I enjoyed my time with STO - but there are much better games out there. Plus I dont get them charging £10 a month for this game.

Wondering what the new changes are like though?
