Star Trek Online

If you see either of the fleet admirals online, then they are pretty much free to help with any mission or team up. Just drop us a line.

A good mix of exploit and expose weapons looks the way to go with the 'ghost busters' rifle from the Devidian missions pick of the bunch ;)

I agree the ghost buster gun is the best, i always have it on stand by. When doing STF's, you just need to be careful of it's "chain reaction" alt ability, as it can give you multiple agro. If, before shooting, you think this may be an issue, switch to sniper rifle or type 3 phaser rifle.

Not sure if I have mentioned this already, but imo the best expose gun to complement the high exploit guns e.g ghost buster gun etc is the Rapid Fire Polaron Assault Weapon Mk VII which you can pick up from the "forging bonds mission". Whilst DPS might seem low at admiral lvl it has a great crowd control ability on a really low cool down. It also receives low agro.

My BO's have :

Me : Ghost Buster & Dual disruptor pistols XI + Squad Leader XI kit

TAC : Phaser rifle Mk3

TAC : Polaron Rapid Fire Assault VII

Eng : Split Beam Phaser rifle XI

Many people on OcUK or in general ? Not sure of the current OcUK fleet size ? CR or JGBR can help there ?

In general there are literally thousands with fleets from all over the world. :D

Yes it has improved out of all recognition from the early days :) You can pick the retail game up for less than a tenner with a free 30 days of gametime so why not judge for yourself ;):D

I assume as you have posted your spec you would like some critique? If you're having fun and that is working for you ignore this. I believe having fun is far more important than cookie cutter strats, which is why my R-Defiant is set up the way it is.

That being said, if, like me you want to blitz through the ground combat and inflict regular crits and vaporise the enemy, you might want to optimise your away team better. I would limit your Tac members to 1 if you are a non Tac captain (and 0 if you are). This is because they do very little dps; the AI is not efficient at firing their guns and they do not draw fire very well.

I have 1 sci (spec'd purely for healing) and 3 Engineers (with shield regen and phaser turrets/ maybe 1 with mines). The turrets from the engi do token amount of damage but they take agro nicely.

You are better off giving ALL of your BOs expose weapons. You do the actual killing/ major damage - get them to expose the enemy for you to exploit. The Brean freeze gun (CRM200 iirc) is perfect for your BOs. I only equip one though as the alt fire cripples my frames per second and I have a 5870!

Your critique is most welcome especially with the Borg missions due next ;) Hey I'm away from home on my laptop and its 7950GTX and you think you have problems with graphics :D

Will definately look at my away team mix and take your advice , many thanks for that as I really want those borg bits :D:D

Oooops upside down quoting , how cool is that , errr not :)

lol!

No worries. ;)

Anyone have a tact kling with a carrier? Need some advice on what weapon load outs be suitable i.e. beam arrays and turrets or pure beams?

If you mean the Vo'Quv carrier then i'd probably lean towards all turrets since it turns so slow and has its NPC spam to kill things with.

The other carrier turns decent so beam arrays are probably fine on it.

Yeah, I can get it for under a fiver.

Thanks :)

It has improved loads since launch and there is promise for loads more to come :)

The game has more players now than ever I think.

I think I'll get it and play it in a couple of weeks to see what it's like.

Is it the type of game where you can spend an hour on it and make good progress or is it a min of a few hours per session?

Thanks :)

You can complete nearly all missions in under an hour and get nice XP.

How's the PvP population now? Has it filled out or still quite empty? It's only a fiver at gamersgate and me and a mate are bore stiff with nothing to play atm.

I find the PvP quite random. Some days I can get game after game. Other times I can be waiting 20mins+.

Note, I only do Space PvP.
