I've resubbed out of boredom and a niggling desire for some trek action.
Sadly theres bugger all new content to play since the last time i subbed, fingers crossed the cryptic buyout gets the dev team enough bodies to actually get things going instead of constantly saying x feature/content/fix is being worked on etc.

Have been tempted to resub, but doesn't sound like they have added anything since I last played. Amazed this game is still going with the little they have added this year.

Is there a way to trial the game out? I did it when STO came out but had no time to try it. Really want to give this a go.

There is a demo iirc. If not their are plenty of guest passes about im sure someone could give you.

There is no PM function. You have to enable trust in order to see others e-mail addresses.

Resubbed to this the other night, since a few of my friends are playing again, and I can't believe how packed it is. Seriously, what the hell? I don't remember it being this crowded at launch.

Nope, it's heaving on both sides, i love the changes they've made since it was released, the game in my eyes is brilliant now, same with Champions Online.

If you only played at launch then yes it's massively improved, even ground combat is actually fun now
If you last played in the past 6 months theres little point checking it out just now unless you want to see the new ground combat. The sale of Cryptic and the transition to being owned by Perfect World has put a nasty dampener on the content releasing, the hope is now that everything is finally confirmed they can get hiring more devs and get content cranked out faster.
Oh and this weekend has a double XP event thingy on (seems its double everything, XP, credits, badges etc. Just not doubled from PvP)

How are Klingons?
I haven't played since the initial launch month
Klingons are in a better shape than at launch, quite a few missions for them and they have full access to all the feature episode series. Levelling a KDF character is still a pretty nasty grind and the lower level PvP is fairly dead.
