Star Trek Online

from what I have seen on tribble it is no where near ready tbh , yet they are releasing season 8 on the 12th . another grind fest incoming

I've stop thinking a game will ever release anything near finished, just not part of the industry anymore.

But from the things I've read and seen this is still a much needed addition to a slowly dying game (in terms of content and how much focus is on grinding thanks to PWE)

Was enjoyable with the F2P options but the ground combat is still poor, at least compared to space. Small fleets seem to have a tough time of it due to the grind for tiers and you'll always find people in chat selling access to tier 5 gear.

Pretty much done with the game now since I don't like the reputation grind and it looks like season 8 more of the same. Liked being in ufplanets.com while playing, though they do require you to be active due to being full.

F2P and lockboxes have turned the game around and looks like it's got a high population now, at least compared to when it was sub-only.

This worth a try?

Yep, it's free.

Theres a new system to allow your other characters to benefit from leveling the rep system or some sort I can't remember exactly what it is though.

Ive been playing this for around 5 days now, managed to get to level 50 in 3 days really easily. Space battles are good and i love my ship but the ground games bore me. Still for a free game its pretty good. Ive just joined a fleet so il see how that turns out. Just grinding my rep in the omega store as well. There is so much to learn in STO, its no Eve online though if your after pvp, i think the PVE is better than eve but the pvp doesnt come close.

I'm surprised STO hasn't died yet, even the fleet I was in got boring. The game became very repetitive and everything they added, you could complete in a few hours and then jump back on the repetition thing. I'm happy to make alittle fleet up or listen for any decent fleets.

Can anyone advise about a problem I'm having? Any time my son and I, on two different machines but in the same house try to play one of us always gets disconnected. Any ideas how to fix it?

From what I've read it seems that STO's conversion to F2P has been a big success for PWI as the lockboxes are very popular amongst the playerbase.

That was some time ago now and its all got very boring most users are saying.

I am not sure it Cryptic block multiple logins by IP address or not.

ive had two copies of sto running at the same time, one using main server one using test server. Tho i dont think you can run 2 ppl on the one account on the one main server tho. Are you sharing the same account or have seperate accounts?

I bought STO when it first came out but dropped it after a few months as I found the content quite dull and repetitive. Signed up for an f2p account recently (couldn't find my old account - probably dead anyway) and have to say it's really very good! Reached Vice Admiral in a couple of weeks and loved the story all the way through, Lvl 50 quests are fun too. Got my Dyson Sphere science cruiser last night - looks very nice and much fun to solo Borg Cubes :-) Started a Klingon and Romulan character too now - am assuming the Romulan storyline is different enough from your chosen faction to make it worthwhile playing all the way through?

Romulan's are definitely worth playing through, story is very good as are some of the missions. The ships have some cool abilities too which are fun to use.

was going to pop on and have a look been a long time since i played but account linking wont work even after resetting password.

I've got 2 seperate accounts, running on a PC and a laptop from the same IP, with no issues, I'd think this is down to connection issues at your ISP.

I have just downloaded this, is there a subscription or just f2p? If so what's the difference?

There is a subscription, but it basically isn't needed or required. Most f2pr's subscribe for 1 month to unlock the level up ships and inventory slot unlocks, and once the month expires use the 500 Zen you get to unlock the currency expansion.

There are rewards for staying subscribed. There is also an Lifetime Sub option that unlocks all the vet rewards.

STO is one of the few games that doesn't require you to spend real money to get the premium currency. And it's actually quite easy to get Dilithium, and then convert that to Zen.
