I downloaded it yesterday through steam, went to play it and it said updating (using some sort of launcher?) and it fails

so I went to the website to Register and I cant register, it says enter password and accept the T&Cs which I did, no joy

It has downtime frequently so it could have been that that prevented you from playing it shi. I know there was some emergency maintenance not long ago which could have been it.

Register a PWE account http://www.perfectworld.com/ and it should probably work with sto.

They have just announced the first expansion called: Legacy of the Romulas. Also any fleets out there, I've just started playing too ^^

I'm not overly enthused by the announcement, it'll cause a lot of problems in the long run I fear.

Anybody needs any help, if I'm around I'm usually able to help, Ceryn@ceryndrion is my main, I'm a senior officer in the fleet "Nova Elite" (t3 fed and klink), we're all pretty good pve/pvp players, relatively small fleet, but active, and always lookign for new people to join us..

From what I know so far, the expansion will be free to all, though of course, if you already have used all your character slots, then you will need to buy another before you can roll a romulan..

I'm not enthusiastic, as many fleets are already struggling to support both a spacestation and embassy for fed + klink, and now we're going to have to start all over again with the romulans, that's going to become so much more of a grind, it makes me want to hurt people..

HAH, well no gamers are in charge of a games businesses model so we will always get shafted when it comes to P2W games, especially the Asian games (PWE), as those are grind-fests and hugely popular in their own region, yet us westerners are suckers for opening our wallets

The expansion is free yes, but as of yesterday there are 2 starter packs, one for 20 dollars and one for 130 dollars, which has ships, keys, titles, species in. Nothing really worth it imo.

You will probably get a new slot for free when may comes. If not you should be able to grind enough dilithium and convert it to zen and buy a new slot cheap enough.

No one is starting over again when it comes to fleets and embassy stuff because at level 10 when you play a romulan you have to choose one of the other sides to join as there is no fleet or embassy for romulans at launch. So romulans can join a fed side or kdf side at level 10 and with that have access to their tech like ships, can join their side fleets and embassies.
