How is the cruiser treating you? I haven't played enough to get one yet. I hear escrots are so fragile they are tough to play as. However, I planned to play as a cruiser all along (even if people do say there are balance issues) :)
 
Well ive pretty much soloed the entire game with a cruiser. I keep having to help out people on missions because they say they die so easily =/ The cruiser is incredibly slow and does indeed feel like a whale... Upside is i can do the harder missions but i get to keep all the mk III drops etc :D
 
Those who are having server problems this is due to the Servers are 'Full', check the main screen they are increasing capacity as we speak so slowly it should ease off. Tbh thats good so many want to play.

I'm now level 15. For me the struggle is making a guild as fleet recruitment seems tough due to the 'shards' so technically its communities within communities.... nevertheless found 20 souls :P. The Battles are REALLY fun I just did a Fleet Action on ground (big ground warz) looking forward to release.

When I checked my Excort had 11k Hull Points and my friends cruiser had 17k Hull Points. Thats a big difference in surving fights.

Dont forget it makes a huge difference your 'class' and ship i.e Cruisers 2 Engineering officers can replensih sheilds faster.
 
it does feel the same as wow in some ways. Cruiser = tanks escort = rogue/mage science = druid

I h ave about 40k cash so im going to buy a science vessel to check out the subsystem targeting :)
 
How can I walk around my bridge? :(

I'm really enjoying this, just preordered and I've never even liked Star Trek (well, to be fair, never given it much thought) except the new movie.

Well, played it for about 4 hours, finding it very slow at the moment!

Loading screens are a bit annoying. Missions not the easiest to find and follow (Like where is the Sirius system? It's not in my list of systems!)

It's a sector not a system. Check the galaxy map out. I think its the default one you start in.

For first page, my handle is @Isenduil
 
Also cruisers have a lot more crew, and in Beta death penalty is disabled, I imagine crew will be needed to maintain performance of your ship, so cruisers will have the edge there

Yes, I keep forgetting about that! Anyone know where we will be able to buy crew? I can only assume at a starbase. I wonder how much "crew" will cost?

I heard it might regen naturally, those frisky crew! But if not then yeah I'd say starbases would be the natural loation to buy crew. Maybe select planets around the sectors?

I noticed this occasionally, but I don't think it is working correctly/as intended. I am sure I remember them saying you would have to buy crew at space dock - but this could have been referring to bridge officers and could also have changed by now.
 
I guess it should probably say crew health/efficiency. As you take hull damage the % drops lower the performance of your ship. There are a lot of abilities, consoles etc. to reduce the amount of crew loss.

I guess the regen could be considered medical bays etc. that get your injured crew back into action quicker?

That would make more sense, and not mass breeding :). The dead crew then need to be replaced at space dock. Seems like Cryptic are going to add a lot in for release/shortly before - a lot of which will be untested :confused:
