If they didn't approach these characters, then we would not know what happened to them - a bit of closure.
We could have had a new threat, but i liked that they chose to cover past encounters, develop a bit of back story to characters and to tell us what happened to some of the TNG crew.
You see it as a plot hole, i just loved having Picard back on TV and enjoyed it for what it is. The show wasn't necessary, but i enjoyed it, looking forward to S3.

I just watched this and it reminded me of when Star Trek was at it's peak. The Best of Both Worlds has preceded it and that seemed like peak Trek, but then this little gem follows it. There were some brilliant episodes in series 3-5. 6 and especially 7, the quality dropped a lot, probably because they were spread thin over two different series. But I would watch Masks over any of the new Trek. Maybe not Code of Honour though. This is proved again with Voyager. It came into it's own when it was made in isolation.
All modern Trek is a shadow of it's former self, a shadow with some lovely CGI, terrible, awful writing, nothing has any impact and is resolved next scene, irritating wokeness and an over compensation of non white male characters unless they are evil or stupid. The bridge crew of the new "Star Trek" series is mostly female. They must hate that the lead is a white male. No doubt he will be emasculated and proved wrong by the more intelligent women. They hang the odd remember berry in the hope it will distract you from the terrible writing.
Like a lot of people have said, this whole series would have been wrapped up in a two parter of TNG. It was hours of pointless, mind numbing filler and then everything happens in the final and dreadful rushed seeming episode. I could not care less about series 3. Let's see what Strange New Worlds holds, more of the same I imagine. Maybe the first episode will distract from the usual wokeness then get amped up as we go.

From my point-of-view most of the chateau shots were CGI.
Not much to say about the series, agree with most other comments but I like how they wrapped it up despite seeing it coming a mile off.

So everything they did all season was pointless... Soong, Renee, Sol, Legolas, Raffi+Seven, Watchers, Guinan, the only thing that mattered in the end was going to racist land and getting Agnes assimilated. This was one TNG episode worth of story.

Yeah the immortal being dying due to reasons unknown makes much more sense instead of him continuing to be a Q and doing what they do long before they ran into picard and co. Why would we need closure on a character that's immortal?
He showed up in ds9 and voyager, we all know what Q does, so it's not exactly hard to imagine he does this across the galaxy, no closure needed.

It was almost entirely (poor) CGI. You'd think whoever did the graphics could have done even the most basic amount of research to make it true to the original.
Was mentioned on the last oage we don't see Q dying, but we actually do.
He tells Rafi they she might be able to kill him in his weaker state, but sending them home definitely will. So the snap with Picard holding Q is basically them being sent home, Elnor being brought back to life, and Q's death.

Wasn’t a terrible finale. Could have done without Wesley in it, that was cringe.
Wesley didn't even sound as if he was acting he sounded like he was on his podcast ffs.

Not good. And technically they just retconned 50+ production years of Star Trek into the garbage bin with the "new" timeline as one assumes with
Then we have the last five minutes with the anomaly which someone must have dreamt up on the Friday afternoon storyboard session as the reason behind all this happening.
About the only good part of the show was the ST IV homages.
Agnes running or heavily influencing the Borg, none of the events in STNG would have happened, Wolf 359 never happened, Picard never went back to see Cochrane, even the events of Picard S1 technically never happened. Oh not to mention Voyager probably still adrift in the Delta quadrant with no Borg tech to help them and would never have found 7 of 9 so immediate paradox there.
But hey ho, a quick bit of unified shield projection and it just went away again.

The great thing about this thread is that for season 3 it‘ll be a hell of a lot quieter as all the haters will have ****** off to watch reruns of Greys Anatomy or similarly purile garbage.
I’m really looking forward to the next series already as I thought this second one was a great romp. Patrick Stewart is brilliant once again but this time round the supporting cast do support rather than tag along for the ride. I only have one minor niggle - why are Seven and Rafaela lesbians? What’s the point in that apart from pandering to the minority woke crowd?

Not read all the post but what got me about this story end was the actual anomaly.
The last episode of TNG - All Good Things, an anomaly appears Q shows up last time we see Q with Picard. Last episode to have Q in with Picard on Picard again an anomaly

In my thoughts the writers were just so lazy and used the same story over again but this time killing off one of the Universes most nigh-omnipotent beings bit silly and a waste of a character, I don't think they have killed him off I think the Q will let him off and he will be back the same old sarci Q with Picard joining the Q continuum in the last episode of season 3.

Q will be back at some point in Trek. But I don't think John De Lancie will.
The threads already quiet as is as there’s not too many enjoying the series on here at least, but amusing to see that people with valid criticisms you class as “haters” just because they don’t like being fed shovels of **** with writing that makes no sense along with episodes that are 99% pure filler BS. Maybe the “haters” know what Star Trek is and recognise that this is a far flung departure from it.
We went through 10 episodes and what did we get out of it? Picard has previously unknown mummy issues, clearly a story thread that needs addressing since it was a pivotal part of tng..said no-one ever. The Borg are now the galactic Salvation Army, Oh! and a previously immortal being is dying for reasons they couldn’t come up with so it’s not addressed.
Pure quality! Literally the only decent scenes in this *********** were Picard and Q’s interactions, and specifically their final interaction. The rest you could take or leave, the first episode started out somewhat promising but it quickly devolved into filler central from episode 2 onwards, that’s what happens when they have enough material for 2~3 episodes but try to stretch it into what amounts a season these days.
