Star Trek: Picard

its better.....than the first two series or discovery

Things i hate:
Stupid blurry filter they use on everything (noticeable on spacey bits or on the bridge) its the new lens flare
Ship makes no sense, its a refit but a new ship but is the titan that Riker captained - but clearly isnt - just pick one thing and stick with it, they did the same thing with the stargazer on s2 at it made no sense then either
Raffi - terrible
Stop with the omg starfleet evil we must go rogue on our own - whats the point being an admiral in starfleet if you have to constantly go rogue to get anywhere, cant he hire a shuttle or something??
Fake drama all the time (Raffi is drug addict, Seven not sure if she should have joined starfleet, Riker comment about troy needing a break from him) its like we cant get anyone without some trauma, its so forced it makes my eyes roll, its good to have that character development but its like the first words out of each characters mouths "hello im the new captain of the Titan clearly i have trauma about wolf 359 or something"
Blates going to be Picards son

Things that are good:
Its a bit more startrekky
Nostalgic music and Leaving Spacedock etc (good but its just memberberries really?)
Picard and Riker bits together were good and some actual humour that worked
Looking forward to the inevitable visit to the starfleet museum (maybe a big battle with a fleet of famous ships like enterprise E, voyager, enterprise A etc etc) oh wait is that just memberberries again! sadface
Portal gun weapon is fun - hopefully it will be GLaDOS as the villain

clearly its another "lets reuse Wrath of Khan success" constitution styled ship, distress call from a Dr who is an old flame, new young guy is a unknown son of the lead character, spacedock leaving scene, use of naval stuff like whistles when admiral on deck, somewhere someone mentioned WOK style submarine warfare, villain will be Khan style i bet

but yes will be watching despite it being not very good :D

Nice start. I can't get on board with weekly waits mind you, leaving us a little short in that episode. Loved the credits, really nicely done. Hopefully they release the music.

Are we reckoning mini crusher the 2nd is Picard's son, given it's been 20 years and he's a surprise to them? They didn't part on good terms, they also mentioned the love interest a couple times plus zero contact so he wouldn't know.

Looks like we have a mix of writers and directors for different episodes so hopefully they've done each one justice.

Given the title of the epsidoe, that Laris talked to Picard about "legacy" and now out pops...

"Beverly's Son", who so happens to speak with a (forced?) British Accent and is just the same amount of time Picard and Beverly were last together

I'm fairly certain we all know where that's going.

It was OK, from a nostalgia point if view, and I found the self deprecation amusing. I'm sure there was 10's of "in" references to TNG all over the episode that I missed!

Rafi still annoys me when she's on screen, as does the (Irish?) Romulan. At some point the elroy/elron will appear and make me hate the show even more!!!

But billed as the final series and loads of TNG cast, let's be honest that's the only reason most people are watching after Season 2!!!

Yes, Raffi - must have blocked her out. Hate her acting, not the character *getting ready to smash the TV when she starts calling him "J-L"*

"Trust no-one" - who is going to be the one that turns on them? :(

Watched it and in all honesty was a bit meh about it....
Yes the dynamic between Ryker, Picard and Seven was good but to me I had some serious 'wtf' about it.... having said that I'm far more interested in pacifist Worf, that's going to be an interesting explanation that's for sure.

Did everyone just forget about that huge blue wormhole from the end of season 2 which was supposed to be some sort of huge threat.... not to mention the agnes borgs.... unless of course it links to the weapon used on Federation HQ in some random way...

The captain of the 'neo class' ship was so non star trek it irritated me... and the fact that Picard wasn't aware of the change of protocols considering he's been on several different ships over the last 2 seasons....

Raffi is still annoying and in all honesty I'm guessing the 'text' on the ship is probably section 31 and we'll either get an update or a trailer for Michelle Yeoh's off shoot section 31 series 'soon'.

The 'son' narrative is just going to be a disaster, I can see it now.... mind you we've had cloned Picard along with the current synth Picard.

I'm always amazed how all these 'alien' enemies have such huge ships yet the federation (and the Klingons/Romulans for that matter) never seem to have anything near the size or firepower.... you'd think by now that it might be a good idea for at least one huge ship....

Ah yes... "Jay-El", cousin of "Jor-El"... :p

Or pointless reduction of two syllables to... two syllables... I don't mind it when people go James T. Kirk because Tie - Beer - Ee - Us is four syllabels. So just "Tee" is fine. But to go with "Jay-El" for "Jean-Luc"? What's the point of even reducing it like that??

My only niggle with it is the lighting/colour and it trying to be like star wars

To be fair they completely changed the lighting between the TNG series ending and the movies to make it more "cinematic" (and they went straight in to production of Star Trek: Generations), so it's not a new thing.

Much prefer the top one.

If I remember correctly they specifically changed the enterprises lighting for generations because it was a TV set (not a big budget film set) and they worried it would show up as poor quality on the cinema screen so made it darker and moodier to hide it
