Star Trek: Picard

Yes but as mentioned above the Netflix version of DS9 is a very low quality version. Whereas when I watched DS9 on sky a few years ago there wasn't any noticaeble issue with the source
I've been watching DS9 and Voyager. Didn't think it looked that bad. Considering they are just standard definition. Checked on P+ also and it looks about the same.

Following the comments people have made re: DS9…

I really never could get into that at all. Even though I couldn’t articulate my reasoning as a kid, I do remember feeling like it was milking the concept and making it into ‘low stakes’ afternoon TV for nursing homes… I’ve never really been able to shake that feeling off!

Revisiting it now, it looks super (off-puttingly) cheap with its production.

Has anyone been able to approach DS9 from scratch in recent times and get on with it? I suppose people may also struggle with Next Gen from scratch for similar reasons - but I find that easy to go back to… so long as you can deal with the beige colours of the ship :D

I did not like DS9 as a kid much either, whereas I loved TNG. But watched it again many times since and it is good imo. It takes time to get going though.

The one we struggled with is Babylon 5. Never watched it as a kid but tried a few times as an adult and we just struggled with it :(

Think this was mentioned in here somewhere, can I skip season 1 and 2 and watch season 3 without being lost on what's going on?

Im struggling to get into S1 about 5 episodes in, the story isn't grabbing me.

Yes - there are a couple of minor throw back lines that may not make sense, but other than that no real impact

That's a shame as the acting and writing is far better, without getting too much into a DS9 v B5 debate, I like both, B5 is just the superior show. (IMO, etc)

I recently watched it all from the start again, and the little lines and hints that you find when you know the outcome over the full 4 seasons of interest are just mindblowing. You wouldn't even notice them otherwise - the story arcs were amazing.

just watched the latest ep and wow, it was awesome, who ever came up with season 1 and 2 needs kicked in their balls, season 3 is brilliant :)

i hope it just keeps getting better and better, it should have been like this from the start :)
Alex Kurtzman, a lot of blame goes to him when it comes to modern ST.

Pretty much the benchmark/blueprint for most serialised arc storyline shows that followed.

Also - 5 seasons /pedant ;)

B5 was much better than anything at the time, acting was a bit cheesy at times, but as a whole story, the only things that have come close, for me at least, are the new(2o years old) BSG and The Expanse.

Mate I didn't watch past 'Into the Fire' as the whole Earth/Mars thing didn't do it for me back then when it came out. Once the Shadows were gone it all felt a bit rubbish to be honest...

Ah, the latter end of S4 with the liberation of earth sends the hairs on my arms tingling at times, some utterly iconic moments - however we've hijacked this thread enough :)
