Star Trek: Picard

Was there one likable character in the whole season?
For me Nirissa was pretty badass apart from the whole wanting to Shag her brother thing she had going on.
Apparently the hands thing was done by the two of them without direction and ad-libbed and left in.
I very much doubt that, wait until season two for their relationships to blossom!!

Maybe her relationship with Chakotay turned her gay.
Or maybe she just likes the internet pat's when she posts rainbow flags on twitter.

Those Fed ships that turned up did indeed look a lot like one of my fav STO ships, the Avenger (and its upgrade, the Arbiter)

No wonder the Roms turned tail and ran, a fleet of those is going to give someone a very bad day.

Agree. It made the best enterance in the entire show and got taken out by a space triffid. I was hugely annoyed as I thought they were totally wasted at every opportunity.

That's how so many things work on TV and movies nowadays. A massive promise that never pays off. It's just a mystery box mcguffin with nothing inside it, hidden behind flash visuals and relationship drama. It's what Abrams and Kurtzman have been doing for all their careers, and it's rubbing off everywhere.

I hope cbs fails and they have to sell the trek licence and maybe paramount can buy the ip back and get back to the usual 7 season trek runs of old. I know its never going to happen but its what i hope. I cant stand these short seasons and long story lines i want the old system back.

You're aware that the parent company of Paramount is ViacomCBS, right?

Hmm nope i didnt, i noticed viacom under the paramount end credits i think but i dont recall cbs there too. Hmm ah well i guess i just meant i wish it was back in the hands of paramount who employed the ppl who worked on the old treks then i guess.

I guess those that worked here.

Btw i dont think the end was that good because i reckon picard would have preferred to die rather than become anything machine like due to his background with being a borg in tng. Surely if he became anything like a borg i.e machine he wouldnt be able to live with being like that again due to the assimilation process scaring him for life. True, being synth might be different to a borg but its still him being turned against his will from human to machine in a sense. Just because being a synth lets him retain his humanity i dont think the tng picard would have liked it still.

He's been living with a mechanical heart since 2327 anyway. So what's a few extra artificial bits matter? ;) [/quote]

I did enjoy parts of the final episode, but it was all nostalgia based. Was falling asleep rest of the time sadly :(

Overall ST: Picard has been very disappointing. I actually would have preferred if they did not bother if this is what they were going to manage to put out.

Will still carry on watching season 2, but with super low expectations.

One of the reasons Critical Drinker says this isn't Trek. No optimism, no attempt for humanity to become better than it is and strive for advancement. It's just our world with flashier technology, but everyone being awful to each other with drinking, drugs, crime, swearing, etc. It's the usual lazy writing. Half the characters (like space elf) have nothing to do.
Totally. Honestly for me apart from the nostalgia this did not feel like a Star Trek TV show.

Flipping hell the whole season was just a SJW check box exercise.......
Yeah, sad ain't it. It's like they did not learn from Discovery. Hate that ****!
